Stone,
I cant find the answer to that one in the stuff on the net. Trust you to be different.........
I know Dave Samson was sent to jail for having one though. Its probably best to contact the proof house direct as they will be dealing with the certificate.

Shed loads of stuff at Beltring every year. I bought an AFV night sight from them and had excellent service through the post. Very helpful to talk to as well.
Dave
Unlike JC militaria. Caveat Emptor and bargepole spring to mind................

Just be grateful no-one hurt and the vehicle was not destroyed. There but for the grace of God go any one of us who are running older vehicles.
Personally, I always carry a new extinguisher in the cab of the ferret.

Sorry guys, I am going to put my head above the parapet and say that I am not a fan of Bovvy. They have had lottery money, lots of it; and the collection is still mediocre.
The French museum at Samur is a much much better day out and the entry fee there is reasonable - unlike Bovvy. For those folks who live miles away, the entry for a year is no benefit. Try bringing the price down by a few pounds and get more families through the door.
regarding the unrestored stuff, why not put it on show (inside or out) people are still interested in vehicles which are not running.
Having said that, I would support a group visit.

Thanks for that Lee. Whatever they are, its really high grade steel. I expect they will be used in the workshop for something even if only a small anvil.

Hey Dave,
Don,t worry ,we all have a fetish of some sort and yours just happens to be boxes !! :cool2:
Rob...........................rnixartillery
I think you will find mate; that reply was less than helpful...............................
Ok, I'l keep the box. Wanna buy a piece of steel?
Seriously Rob, what are they for?
Dave

Can anyone tell me what this is? I bought it at Beltring purely because I liked the box and the quality of the steel. Now how sad is that.....
I think it is artillery based so Rob, are you there?

How on earth was no-one killed.

We probably will not be camping there next year

Not me Robin, too much hassle to undo it - depending on which method you prefer. Not a huge gain, maybe a few mpg. I only do about 500 miles a year so the fuel saving would be minimal. I have never had a problem with wind up.
What are you trying to achieve? Save fuel, prevent wind up, cant get some spare parts?
Off to War + Peace now, speak later.

FMG Rob, that is brilliant. Are you going to Beltring?

Goodl luck, it is a pig of a job. when taking the gearbox off the trunnions make sure there is blocking underneath or you may crush the brake pipes.

You can buy a leather dye to take it back to black but you will have strip all the polish off first and start the shine again. Cant remember the name but you can get it from tinsons or shoe repairers

Thanks for the reminder Vince. I have also been told that stainless rods will do it. I just need to get enough heat there to bend it back.

A bit of a lacklustre display at Biggin this year. NOT up to the usual 'Reds' standard, both content and timing were very unimpressive.

No, its actually a helmet used by the German night searching group. They were a little known outfit used during power cuts in the trenches. The helmet gave the wearer a bit of advanced notice that he was approaching a wall or other obstruction.

I was trying to dig out an old tree stump from the garden, which had been there for a few years and Val wanted to plant more stuff there.
After a couple of hours digging and chopping roots I thought it was going to move - NO CHANCE.
Amswer, put a strop round the stump and throw a rope over the hedge into next doors garden where there is vehicle access.
Tie rope to the front of the Ferret and select reverse.
Go back for a stronger piece of strop and try again.
Shows the stump out of the hole.
Shows the route of the rope over the hedge
Shows the damage to the front towing eye where it pulled the weld apart.
Whats the easiest way to fix this? Bend it and weld it or put a new peice on?

Fantastic work. I bet this one is finished before mine is even painted

Handles like a dream, presents very naturally , easy to aquire sights. The one critism as you can see from the picture, the butt was rather light and flimsy.
How can you tell that? He is facing the camera...................

I bought a 24v charger for one of those mobility electric carts. Got it fron fleabay for about £12. Wired it to an interstart socket and it works a treat.
