Hello, with this thread I send some information about the restoration of my bedford QL. This truck was original a QLR, yes with a radio box on the chassis but lost his rear section after its military service. The plan is to put a general service (QLD) rear section on the chassis but this will be for the future, first start with the cabin and engine as this last one is solid blockt.

Hi Ian, I though my Ql floor was in a bad state butt to see on your pictures we are in the same league. Butt al the floor panels are fairly easy to repair and easy to shape in the right form . The part under the driver seat must be the problem area on thees trucks and surely this is in relation with the battery's been kept under the driver seat . Keep up the good work..... Guy

Hello, My Ql engine is still in the original colour and what i see under a enormous layer of filth is black. A will have a lock what colour I will find on the gearbox . Guy

Hello, I will tray to get the bedford ready for 2014 and then i can take my triumph on the back to Normandy. Indeed it is the radar station of Douvres, as my triumph has the number 93 of the 41 royal marines commando.iIt was the right spot to make some pictures as the commando's had some fighting to do on this location. Normally there will be something to do for British wd bikes in Normandy in 2014 as in 2009 (just have a lock to the bsa m20 forum) Guy

Hi Niels, after I had a good lock at you pictures and some other Danish bedford QL's I noted the two easy to spot modifications that the Danish army did on these trucks after the British sold of there overstock. In the cabin the speedo meter has been changed to a km/h type and has a white dial plate and on the engine there is a outer type of oil filter. Certainly there are more modifications (lighting, weapons carriers on the side of the cabin...) but the speedo and the oil filter really caught my eye. Guy

Name of the driver is: privet Florent Dutrieux 3rd motorized unit of the 5pl brigade piron.Date 4 September 1944, he wend top pay his parents a visit with the QL.

Yes the pto pick up is on the transfer box and also the regulator control box inside the cabin is still in place. The chassis middle cross section was cut for the crane on the chassis and there will normally be the extra generator be mounted. Guy

Hello Niels, Shortly I will start with the restoration of my bedford QL. I have to start with the truck and a bare chassis.It started life as a QLR radio box and lost the box after it was sold by the army and was equipped with a crane for the lumbering trade (as so many 4x4 trucks after active service)[ATTACH=CONFIG]0[/ATTACH]. As you can see on the pictures I will need a rear body and think to make a QLD body for it because tracing a original cargo body will be very difficult. But no panics I know somebody locally with a QLD that i can use as a sample to copy the rear section.
