  1. Have fun over there Alec. Happy days remembered, live garands were £125 and M1 carbines were a mere £100
  2. I will definately photo the poles on mine for you when I get a chance.
  3. Hi Snowman, we lost our right to handguns back in the 1990s and to semi automatic rifles in the 1980s, both times the clamp down followed some nutter running amok with a weapon. People like myself who legally owned them had to surrender them to "dear old nanny", they paid us compensation but it never covered the costs of them fully, and most of us were greatly out of pocket! How did the saying go, Ban guns and only the criminals will have guns. Its true, following the tightening of gun control ownership, Britains gun crime rate has escalated. Work that one out.
  4. So is that 7 1/2 minutes per side ? Impressive,

Back in thelate 70s & 80s I know we had a few XL250 hondas in RE Specialist Units. Rotten sods wouldn't let us loose on them, apparently they were too good for us
  6. Hope the cake we sent you has arrived OK Jack , and not been eaten by those greedy boys at the post office   Happy(belated) Birthday
  7. Its OK for you Steve, I am not allowed out in mine for a week , just to be safe, bad time of year for me and rolling jeeps
  8. So which one of us is going to be the first to advertise an item we got for christmas, that we really didn't want ,on the classifieds section?
  9. To quote Madman, "Nothing fancy in my family. My grandma and granddad hid a jew during the war and that's it. " Well I reckon thats a great understatement , that was an enormous undertaking, easily on a par with others daring deeds. We do owe them a great deal.
  10. You should know by now Jack that there never is a full cost!!! Its really an open cheque you have just thrown in the bottomless pit Its great isn't it. Merry Christmas to all of you on here
  11. Due to the demise of the on site dance ,we are running a 40s dance on Saturday 28th January 2006, at The Angel Hotel Leamington Spa Tickets are a miserly £5.00 per head to include free raffle draw. Drop me a line if you need any info or tickets as we can not sell on the door due to their licensing restrictions
  12. You only need a paint brush and a couple of big hammers
  13. In warmer weather its HBT coveralls and then tankers jackets or M41s as it gets cooler for us.The lipstick is optional Needless to say this photo was in the warmer months. I'm the short fat but excedingly good looking one on the top of the turret!
  14. You have to be very carefull of mOT exemption, there are so many things you can not do with an exempt vehicle, tow trailers, carry luggage etc, even passengers are a dark area, close scrutiny of the RTA 1988 is needed, it isn't as straight forward as it seems. I personally know of more than one privately registered civvy truck owner who had one "stuck on him" for flounting the rules. No one wants the points or extra costs it incurs, so beware!
  15. Well I think the bloke from Nigeria sounds a safe bet to me Jack
  16. What colour anorak is it then Jack?
  17. I am all for driving them all year round, hosed off then a tin of wd40 emptied liberally on her ,well greased on the joints and she's ready to roll next time out. Screen down is great, goggles a must! Well I'm inclined to agree there Steve, what I did with mine isn't really to be recommended I would advise against anyone rolling a Jeep!!!
  18. Hey there Demon, reckon Jack will be impressed by your choice of paint scheme Good luck mate, are you working to a date or just doing it without the pressure of a deadline?
  19. Bernie, Jeep convoy is open to all vehicles of WW2 , its a good fun weekend, heck of a trip for you though. Harperley POW camp is also a great weekend that continues to grow, well worth a trip north but an even longer jaunt for you Bernie.
  20. The poles do have facets, when I am over at my storage in a week or so I will measure and photograph for you.
  21. Anyone who previously went to the saturday night dances at Stoneleigh may be at a bit of a loss now as there is no dance on site anymore. We are running a dance close by at The Angel Hotel in Leamington Spa. Its a ticket only do for licensing regulations , cost is £5.00 per ticket with FREE raffle draw.If anyone is interested drop me a line, numbers are limited though and selling fast so don't leave it too long
  22. I once had my arm broken by a swan!
  23. There are only the two uprights and one ridge pole, no corner poles to the tent. If you need measurements/ pictures I have one stashed away at a friends house and can get them for you in a couple of weeks time.
  24. We once ate meatballs on a table next to John Noakes in Ikea Leeds. No sign of shep though, probably off bouncing on the beds. OK, not really a claim to fame but we do live in the frozen wastes of the North where nothing exciting ever happens
