Do not run the 12v vehicle during the process, this will stop the 6v battery recieving charging voltage from the 12v vehicle. Disconect your jump leads at the 12v battery end imediately the 6v vehicle starts, if you do not the 12v battery will start to cause the 6v battery to gas a lot increasing the risk of explosion if there are any sparks about.

Nissan Terrano 2.7 TD is pretty good I,ve had a 95 model since it was 3 years old, its now just done 75k. No fancy electrics / electronics easy to fix, all parts readily availiable. Not the best 4x4 for fuel consumption averages about 27mpg. Great for towing and as my mobile tool box. I have just bought a newer one which was an insurance write off, an 03 with 47k on it. Will be selling the old one soon with 12 month test on it.

Although this has gone a little off thread, most of the Stalwarts had the swimming steer tillers removed from the cab as well.

Thats the one thanks Clive.

Does anyone know or can provide photographs of an airmobile version of the austin champ as an ambulance? If this vehicle ever existed.
Thanks
Andy
Not sure what you mean by "air mobile" ? There are pictures of the Champ fitted with 2 full length strechers and extended hoop sticks and hood. The modification EMERs also give all the part numbers and instructions for conversion.

Off at a slight tangent, but still relevent. I was talking earlier this evening to a local farmer who offered his services to the County Council today to help clear some of the minor roads round here of snow. The council turned him down, since they insist that to do this he must a) have substantial public liability insurance and indemnify the council and b) use taxed fuel not red in the tractor whilst so doing, since it isn't agricultural activity.
There are times when I hate what the world is becoming.
But "snow clearing vehicles" and "gritters" are permitted to use rebated fuel (red diesel) ?

great thread, thanks for the info. i've always thought of batteries as a dark art, it seems like everyone has a different way of testing and charging them, i might get rid of my £8 ebay chinese effort and get one of those fancy chargers.
cheers
eddy
Call in and have a look at the one I bought when your passing.

I have now purchased a PulseTech charger, I went for the X2 due to the number of 24v vehicles I have. The first pair of "bad" Hawkers are on charge now, will advise the outcome.

Not an AFV though is it!
Nothing against CET's I think I would prefer one to the rapier they sound great just raw power where as the 43's sound pained, detroits just scream etc any Warrior would be nice though again sound of power.
Are you suggesting that CET is related to Warrior ?
Detroit's may scream but twice the power for the swept volume !

The list of manufacturers is interesting, if we had to do it all again tomorrow who would now be capable of such manufacturing in the UK ?

Mini diggers are exempt from C&U Regs by virtue of restricted use. That's why you see them in use on road exacvation jobs, but not parked in supermarket car parks while the driver does the weekly shopping.
:cool2:
Mini diggers are constructed under the rules of "the machinery directive" not C & U.
Trust me I work for JCB.

My russian trucks all use the proverbial mechanical lift pumps, I need them to be repaired, there are kits available and new pumps but they are made in china and literally after a few weeks use fall apart...totally useless...I can get Russian ones, the best, but they take an age and cost a lot of money to get to the UK...
the old russian ones have been on these trucks for 30 plus years and are all the rubber parts are failing but mechanically they are excellent...does anyone know someone who could repair about 20 or 30 of them for me...and do this on a regular basis as we upgrade them all...I need 10 doing, a friend needs well over 20 plus, and there are loads more to do...not going to make anyone rich but it will be a regular stream of business...
Why not just ditch them and fit electric pumps, sounds like your drops could do with one as well !

Mrs wasn't too chuffed but as I told her "the big boys made me do it"
No longer have the M series:-( miss the old girl though. A guy in club has a cet and thats just silly:nut:
Still what doesn't hurt you makes you stronger eh?
What have you boys got against CET... can't you cope with a mans AFV ?
-
That is probably why it was sold as surplus, the stores could not identify the NSN........not only that but he who stamped it could not spell "recovery" !
It was probably surplus due to the fact that the pin that is not there in the picture is missing.
Thanks for the replies.
John.

Does that mean you remove the tank to get at it or that the fuel just pours out if you do not drop the level ?
Having worked on one today I found it. there is a flip down centre seat in the rear seating area, its behind that. There is a 1/2 inch thick armoured panel held on with 6 nuts, remove this and the pump is under the fuel tank. Pump looks similar to bedford MK/MJ one ?

Good advice that it will save you money in the long run. Good time to to clean the engine bay out and get at any of the electrical system.
And find all those old spanners and screwdrivers that REME fitters lost in there years ago !
-
Back crew bulkhead opposite the crane hydraulic pump.
Fuel tank needs to be drained down to permit removal.

Yes I must admit i know that the tyres are bigger on the stolly ..am pretty sure that the alloy wheels were made for the stolly only, so they must be stolly wheels thats my assumption..but when I have the other one off i will check..but I am not going to insert the run flat beads
Yes stalwart wheels are wider than sarracen, unfortunatly 2 weeks ago i weighed in a full set of stalwart rims !

Rick,
Next time your passing my house can you post some of your enthusiasm through my letter box !
If you are serious about the 432 track and sprockets let me know I may be able to help.
