  1. Hello,

Yes I have got the transporter and trailer. It is unregistered at the moment but I am working on it, any tips?!

Your 22.5 ton Ward LeFrance - have you got any pictures? I did consider one of these, is your one up and running?

I will be bringing the Faun/transporter and Leopard to a few shows this year all being well!

    Regards,

    Mark

Have a look at post 16 in Ward La France gallery

    Hi,

I have been looking for an M6 myself. The best I have been offered is in the USA - see pictures. He also had the Walker Bulldog based HST which I have also attached the pictures of. Unfortunately I was only sent one picture of the M6.

Does anyone know if the tracks were just used on the M6?

    Regards,

    Mark

    Akron, Ohio ?

  3. Stalwart does not have air brakes. Handbrake should release by pushing in button on end then banging the lever forwards. It is a ratchet type, this should release the bands around the 2 small handbrake drums on the front bevel units (inboard under cab floor plates). It should then tow onto lowloader. Why is Tatra scrap ? Are the engines for sale ?

  4. not totally following you here, is the scammel there to just stop it falling over or to recover it, how does it move it onto the single track road as shown if it is alongside...dont understand...why would you not use the scammel to pull the truck forwards ensuring that the truck is secured sideways so that it will not fall over...must be missing something here...

    Paul please..... MM & LL

  5. That is very sad indeed :(

    Was he ill?

Mark appeared quite well when we last saw him on Boxing day and made no mention of any medical issues. It was no secret that Mark was an insulin dependent diabetic we are awaiting the outcome of a post mortem examination next week.

Mark will be sadly missed around the MV Social and rally events around the Northwest. He was a larger than life character interested in all aspects of the MV movement.

  6. the net is closing in and the Foden DROPs is certainly over-width by a long way...the scammel/Leyland Daf is not and meets all normal construction Euro II regulations.

If you get a Foden DROPS, registration is possible but it does not make it legal...VOSA could if they were being picky pull you over and take you off the road...fines could ensue and I expect that if VOSA had any money spare they may try a case in the courts one day to scare us all off, but I cannot for the life of me see why they would do it for less than a 1few hundred vehicles and the bad press would be massive...except that the safety issue will be touted and anything over width is clearly unsafe and killing millions...NOT..

My DROPS is registered as recovery by the previous owner and I am still going to keep it as that but I am going to have it voluntarily checked for its MOT...next month, its about to go in and have its service, was going to get Clive of pro-trucks do it but with the distance and travel costs made it too expensive, shame as he has a good rep...

Mine is getting a big winch and all the recovery lights but will not be a fully specced recovery truck really, it certainly wont have an ability to lift a vehicle for a fixed load tow...not at the moment anyway.....

Paul, why not buy a Holmes 5th wheel recovery crane, the type that fits on to a normal tractor unit. This could then be addapted to pin onto the back end of the drops rack that you are fitting the winch to it will then have the capacity to suspend tow as necessary. I have attached a picture of mine hung from a crane. And it fitted on the back of my WLF. No sorry its not for sale !

  7. Hi There,

This introduction is going to be short and sweet as i am not ex-military and do not yet have any military vehicles as we speak...

I am however actively looking to buy an ex-military Landrover 90 or 110 so hopefully will put some more info on here shortly..

    cheers

    Mike;)

    Welcome to the forum Mike,

You may also wish to join the MVT. The Manchester branch of the Military Vehicle Trust meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at "The Lancaster Club", Broadway, Oldham you would be very welcome to attend, vehicle ownership is not necessary. Our meetings start around 8pm with the formal part of the meeting starting at 9pm and lasting about 20 minutes. Popular MV magazines are usually on sale at the meeting. If you do come to the meeting ask for John Riley and I'll introduce you to a few people with similar vehicle interests.

  8. You are quite right, it is a Scammell Constructor 20 ton ballast tractor, originally supplied to the MOD with Meadows 6PC630 petrol engine. It was at some time fitted with a Rolls Royce C6 engine. The restoration you see in the pictures I have attached was carried out by Alan Buckingham of Hinkley, Leicestershire.

You were also right about it bieng in David Crouches yard, as far as I am aware on 2 occasions, Alan bought the vehicle off David, then a few years later sold his whole collection back to David, so it returned again.

Where it is now I am not sure.

My clearer pictures show the registration.

  9. A few of us out here have bought what we believed to be caps for the smoke grenade dischargers on vehicles like Ferrets and CVR W + T.

    They are usually off eblag.

Anyhow, in the pictures they look exactly right but in the hand they dont fit., they are too large by only a bit but enough.

The big visual difference we have found is the right ones are a shiny rubber the others dull.

The wrong ones have an FV 794619 number in them.

    Anyone know what we have?

    R

Yes you have the ones that fit perfectly to FV180 CET and Rapier Launcher, just checked one of my CET ones.

  10. don't worry john i have a cunning plan involving a military range, an old churchill and a tracked recovery vehicle preferably with a winch and a crane, do you know of any that might be available :cool2:

    eddy

Oh S..T I forgot about that, it's still up in Melvyns yard in Heywood, Must bring it back over Christmas. Prefferably the first shopping day after Christmas to create some havoc with the traffic at the front of our house !

  11. That is the conqueror ARV from the collection. It is on John Atlee's girder trailer behind his Antar. The Conqueror is in the shed currently with the winch out on the floor for some repairs. The girder trailer was outside but no sight of the Antar, I forgot to ask Roger where it was.

  12. My brother bought the scammell amazon from the bnfl site at sellafield it was never registered on the road and had never left the site until we collected it . it was badged as an amazon and the handbook drivers manual all stated amazon within the text .it also had cr100 within the handbook, the staff at bnfl would not know anything about it being a cr100 amazon crusader or whatever so the name amazon must have been used by scammell

So where are the pictures ????

  13. thanks for posting the pics, the churchill will always be my favourite tank and when mines up and running i'll put spare track on it in the same fashion as they were in combat it will also have the added bonus of hiding my rough arse repairs :D

    eddy

Spare track.... you've got to find sufficient for it to run on first !

Sorry Rick could not resist that oportunity !
