Ever seen a Jag engine rotate around its own crankshaft, watch for Andy's next video posting !!!!
-
Yes we had an internal company announcement today stating the same thing, we have an excelent marketing department who will never miss an oportunity like this.

Anyone going or is to early?
Its gone tits up for me I booked the meal for my better halfs fortieth birthday dinner with the family for the same day!!! I didn't check the dates
I did think about going but I didn't fancy my chances of being able to get back into the house without a locksmith
Plus when I mentioned about going the look I got could have curdled milk :wow:
If there is anything you particularly need or want picking up Andy, I will be going.

Surely it's the front idler that is connected to the first roadwheel and is known as a compensating idler. The small wheel at the back below the sprocket is the track tension idler and was fitted in an attempt to keep a bit of tension on whilst turning. They were often removed later.
Will have a closer look next weekend and take some pictures.

Thanks for the video's Andy, what engine is fitted RR 305 ? Turbo seems to whistle a bit are there no air cleaners fitted ?
-
Got to be gutting for the owners, Rolls-Royce, as its only a few weeks out of a 2 year refurb at duxford. Hope its not too bad, at least the pilot is ok
Bet someone's a&$e is twitching down at Duxford, incedentally I work at JCB and watched the Spitfire fly over our factory at around 1.15 this afternoon, the engine sounded superb !
-
Welcome aboard Mick, how you doing with the engine Iloaded for you a few weeks ago ?
-
The one which Brian Boys owns has the reaction idlers Warrick and I were only discussing it the other day, assume you know what it is for Mark but for every one else's benefit it is to maintain track tension when the suspension is deppressed, there is an arm linking it to the roadwheel closest to it.

Perhaps at some point there was an upgrade to improve reliability, improved track set up and bonnet louvers to improve engine cooling ?
-
Your probably better asking that question on Steel Soldiers forum.

I was given this picture this morning. I once took 12DM60 to a truck meet at the newly opened Poplar Truck Services just off the M6/M56 junction. As I was reminded this morning on leaving the event the chap on the exit got it into his head I was a paying visitor and was demanding I pay for parking, needless to say his barrier nearly got flattened, my mate who took this picture was getting ready to take a picture of the barrier dissapearing under the Antar !

It took me more than twelve months to admit that one and it ain't that bad supposedly there is supposed to be a video of it as well, lets hope that doesn't surface!
Yes it was me who had to go and winch Andy out, I do believe Eddy8men who gave the encouraging words "it'll get through there no problem".

With Mr Pearson inside filling his pockets. I now have to put it all back on!
Please publish any other pics Bob you have of that trip and do you have a record of the date?
Thats the day I "BORROWED" the chassis plate which is now back in its rightfull place.

Hi John , Looks like a lot of fun in the mud mate ! Here's hoping for a slightly less moist show season this year !:-D
My REO still has plenty of that mud stuck to it, that show was back in July, it was just like Beltring but on a smaller scale, mud mud and more mud.

Great pics Paul ! Found this Antar video a little amusing !
Andy,
that was me stood to the right hand side coordinating the tractors pulling the back end round, Graham Booth had his Pickfords Scammell Constructor winch on the front end in the next field, we were just getting the Antar lined up with the gateway so Graham could continue winching, the tractor guys did sterling work that day getting everything out of the show.
John.

PM sent
PM replied to, don't know what happened there to get the double posting of the same thing ?

Welcome aboard Neil, I am sure you will find this site interesting and imformative. Not one to miss an oportunity but I happen to have a very low hours 432 pack for sale if you need a spare, also have spare Spartan torsion bars.

Hi Tony,
I liked that idea too so I bought a comms box I just need some time
And collect the ladder instead of using those wobbly steps

Why have I got it into my head that the Rush Green one is in fact the one I did for Leconfield? I could be wrong though...
Paul, you are both right and wrong, the one you did for Leconfield was from Rush Green but not the last one.
A few years ago Alan Buckingham of Hinkley tried to by 12DM60 off me when I owned it, when we agreed it was not for sale at the time I told him of the 3 Mk3's residing in Rush Green, the very next day he went and bought 2 of them, one of which he restored to a very fine condition, the other was used for "spares" but never got restored. Alan very suddenly had some health problems and decided to dispose of the majority of his large vehicles. The 2 Antars were sold to a well known dealer in that area and subsequently both passed to an owner in Norfolk. The unrestored one eventually found its way to you and became the Leconfield gate guardian.
I have it on good authority that the 3rd Mk3 Antar was still in Rush Green Motors in October this year (2012). About 6 years ago I did speak to a MV Enthusiast in the Yorkshire area by telephone who said he had bought the 3rd Antar from Rush Green but had not had time to collect it, he even discussed how he was going to get it out and bring it home, as I recall being surprised that he was planning a suspended tow. I have "misplaced" the contact details of the Yorkshire MV Enthusiast so cannot confirm that he still owns the one still stood in Rush Green.
Not sure if the restored ex-Rush Green MK3 is still in Norfolk but I am sure the "Antar book" will reveal this ? Mike B ?

Hi John, Colin and Ed,
You will soon be able to read all about every Antar that’s around, then you can take your pick Ed!
“The book” is almost finished.
Don’t suppose you have a still photograph of it at the Tunnel, Ed, please?
Best wishes, and a happy Christmas to all,
Mike.
Best wishes to you and your wife Mike, wondered how the book was progressing.
-
They are like Hens teeth.
There is still one in Rush Green Motors but someone supposedly bought it a few years ago and has not collected it yet... strange.
-
Caddy,
That comment wasn't meant to cause envy - around here 40 degrees is known as "bloody hot". So our Christmas may be a little uncomfortable but that said, I prefer it to what will be happening in the Northern Hemisphere !
Antar - I know nothing about adjusting the torsion bars other than what I read in the EMERs and that doesn't spell it out very well. It simply gives the measurements, if I remember correctly. Can you provide more information on the process ?
Jack
Yes basically the figures in the book are good, but as you raise or lower the adjustment you are also marginally adjusting the track of the tyres so wheeling the vehicle back and too settles the tyres into their natural position taking out any counter forces to the torsion bar adjustment. Also the vehicle should be as near as possible to its complete weight.

Talking of lovely sounds....try this:
It's taken me a while to figure out how to crop it to size but hope everyone enjoys it.
Kevin is an absolute star, he is the only person in the world actually running a PETROL ANTAR out to shows under its own power. He probably did not even ask if he could take it through the Mersey tunnel, if you are on the aproach there is not much they can do to stop you ! best getting you through and out of the way.
