  1. What is the procedure for this show do we need to sign in or is it a case of just turning up !!!!!!! When is best to arrive Sat morning or Fri night ??

  3. Just to add some confusion I thought I red somewhere that the number bit refered to the type of anti-freeze used. Will look in to that and post my findings here....
  4. Got some paint today, Lechler synthetic eggshell 5Ltrs in B.S. 223 which is middle bronze green, what do you think of that colour then, what colours have other people used to spray their vehicles !!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. If we could get it up there I could bring a compressor up and over the weekend we could spray the truck Pink, he he he :whistle: :whistle: it would then match the cushion................

  7. Whats going on with the truck, have you given up with it ? I presume you are NOT going to take it to the show by lowloader then, so if not there is still a spare place on it to Bolero who is interested.

  9. Strange, because the frame which the tank fits in has only the one hole on the right hand side, so the types you refer to would not fit, apparently these are early tanks !!!!!!!

Very sorry to here about this strange problem, :cry: :cry: maybe we could get the low loader to you and at least take it up there for everyone to hear and judge, then maybe fix it up there, probably a wealth of knowedge up there could be invaluable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a thing to do in the evenings tools and fixing and beer, cant think of anything better on a sunny summers evening :-D At least you have a ride back home on the low loader as well :dunno: Let me know ?   11. Oh, Lead to believe it was NOS, ex French army spares, and as it is exactly the same as my old one less the rust, it also appears to have the same assembly procedure I would guess that was the case but who knows for sure................

Just a bit of extra advice to add to G506, with reference to the wedges great idea, if you can get a bit of a gap using this method then try taking all wedges out and tap head back down to block this might help work the rusty bits out and enable more free movment try repeating this several times using the wedges to make gap and then remove and so on, as what do you have to loose if it does not work, more drastic action, so be gentle and continuous persuasion will work in the end....   14. Ah but the chains at the bottom of pic are hooked to the tyre and then round the engine crane legs, to provide some pull for those stubbon tyres
  15. Not at the moment I have not got any means of digital video but will be getting a new Canon camera soon so you never know I might even do that :shake: :shake: :shake:

Today was tyre day :shake: well it was not as bad as I thought, so here we go the first pic is getting the tyre lever in the hole on the rim, PLEASE NOTE ONLY DO THIS WITH THE TYRE VALVE OUT. then with tyre lever in one hand and a club hammer in the other start levering the rim off the wheel, but at the same time bang the rim on the opposite side downwards this gives some play so the rim where the tyre lever is can ride over the wheel. The subject wheel Tyre lever in the hole This is the point you start tapping the rim round and levering at the same time and gradually the rim will work free with no big problems, don't try and lever it off all in one go this will only bend the rim work it off as you go round the rim with the tyre lever. The rim off the wheel, Easy peasy.......... Now this is the hard part... Get special tool No blar blar blar 00078564 and fit as in pic Apply air pressure and work round the wheel to break bead from wheel. Then get special tool part No. Engine crane 575854 and fit wheel as per pic Apply some pull and again work round with lever to work tyre down the wheel rim and there you go tyre on floor and wheel in the air. Assembly is the easy bit but have not done this yet so stay tuned and await the next instalment. R Cubed ( AKA God )

  18. Here is a pic of the fuel tank as I picked it up, only 1 coat of scabby green paint on it so I have sanded it all off and sprayed it with red oxide etch primer then will paint with green paint. Here are some other pics after I primed the tank.

Well yesterday was an interesting day, as in the last post I have the drop rim off so now was the task of trying to get the tyre off the rim :shake: well that was very difficult, resulted in using an engine crane to lift wheel up off the tyre, this provided suitable tension on the tyre so I could work round the bead with a peice of wood and hammer gradualy working the tyre bead off the wheel so success, needled the wheel and will spray and paint inside, then reassemble the whole lot.   20. I went to Normandy to get all the bits from a chap who comes from the German Luxembourg boarder. tank is good, some of the 4 tyres have small perished cracks in them but once inflated we shall see.

  22. Ho Ho Ho Ho, got back from France Tues night with a brand new old stock fuel tank and 4 new Uniroyal 7.50X20 bar grips, thanks to the French army for getting rid of them some years ago... So full steam ahead to spray and fit tank and 2 tyres for the front of the Truck :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D So happy got a new tank. R Cubed
