  1. Just got back in with the children (R Cubed is still trundling back, hopefully he wont be too much longer) My report of the show:- If I had been visiting the show with the family and had to pay £10 each an adult then yes I would have been disappointed. Apparently on the ticket it does say that £10 will get you in for the 2 days, so why were they charging £10 today then? :dunno: I know the money goes to a good cause but personally £5 each would have got more bums on seats (this is only my view of course) As an exhibitor, brilliant time had by all :-D We camped next to Jack and his family (what a fantastic bunch they are eh? ;-)) Joris was just down the 'road' , we went out for a meal last night (Saturday) then had drinkies in Jacks tent, we wondered off to the bar (well OK I staggered, and thanks to Joris I didn't fall over!) Today we went down to a memorial with the 101st guys and several trucks for a wreath laying, that was a very nice and special moment. Well done to the organizers tho I know its hard to get a show right first time but all the cubes had a fantastic time. Oh a big thanks for the C-47, what a sight that was to see, it was open today and you could climb in and take a look around so big  to those who helped with bringing it in.
  2. Thanks Jack :-D Richard has just left (not bad considering I said he should leave at about 9am :oops2:) I am going to give him a head start. Give the boys some lunch, then hopefully leave around midday. SEE YA ALL THERE!!!!! :yay:
  3. Wahey!! Glad your money and cheque book turned up :-)
  4. Berni it sounds awful for you, but what a good egg you are checking on others :goodidea: I must admit we are very lucky here as we live right on sea front and if we do get flooded it just all runs back out to sea so wont hang around for long. Best of luck Bernie and hope it all gets sorted soon
  5. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm hot showers and central heating, its sounding good :-D

  11. I dont blame you for not wanting to go out in the rain at all, there is no hurry anyway and you are very kind in offering to help out :-) They certainly sound scary things however and am wondering how safe they will be with our 2 munchkins around? (5 and 7 yrs) although the thought of a hot shower almost out weighs this fear! Right off to the local shops for supplies then onto a birthday party. Thanks once again for the offer of help (what a fab forum eh?) Rosemary x ps are the HFs coming to Upottery?
  12. Thank you Mrs HF, R Cubed has gone to work now but I am about so when you have eaten your breakfast and had a cuppa I will await your reply (I have had my shreddies and am on 2nd cuppa, a hazard of having small people who dont understand the meaning of 'its the summer holiday so there is no need to get up at 6.30am')

  17. Just spoken to hubby and he got there this morning :-D already bumped into another forum member (but he cant remember who! Sorry if it was you!) As I was talking to him he suddenly went very quiet and started heavy breathing, I asked f he was ok and he said "oo oo oo ahh ahhh, its the russian truck stand" :-o (we may have the first divorce on the forum here! ) Anyway he says it looks like a good show. Right, now to invite the girlies round here for some pampering, wine and chocolates. Anyone else want to join us?
  18. On June 6th 2004 we had been on Omaha beach, we decided to walk back up the footpath leading to a campsite so we could look at the MVs there. On our way up the footpath we came across a small gathering of people, they were all listening to a veteren from America. He had landed on Omaha 60 years ago as an 18yr old and this was his first visit back. He was very free with his information and said that although obviously there were more shops nowadays on the sea front, it still looked pretty much the same. Someone asked him if the films re D-Day were any where near close to the actual event. His reply...................... "Saving Private Ryan was nearest but you would still need to multiply the carnage by at least 10 to get the real picture" He went on to say he made it all the way across the beach and never touched the sand once due to the bodies and injured. It then took him the rest of the day to climb up the sea walls. I have a photo of him with our 2 boys on his lap. I will never forget the sadness in his eyes as he was telling his story, it was right deep down into his soul. God bless him and a huge thank you I say.

  23.       I said something years ago. My then bosses son was serving in the gulf war 1 and it had all kicked off a bit in the area he was in. I heard a report on the radio of a British plane that had been shot down, fortunately the crew had managed to eject out safely. I ran into the room (filled with people) and shouted loudly "one of our planes has just been shot down, but its ok the crew have ejaculated out safely" :-o :oops2:
