  1.:rofl::rofl: Thats why his bath is always full of beans....and i thought it was just a charity stunt!
  2. And knocking over farmers in a pick up truck...
  3. What, like your face?
  4. Thats only because all the other cars had been nicked!
  5. That looks good. Gives us time to prep the vehicles and (in theory) not sit around burning more fuel than necessary.
  6. Maybe thats why it sits on slightly oversized tyres, to disguise that fact? Or are they just go-faster sized tyres?
  7. A clearly defined and adhered to start time would be good, especially for the larger/armoured vehicles which require un-sheeting/unlocking/warming up before departure.
  8. 2 (coca cola) bottle openers on our mans halftrack. One outside for the many stops on convoys, and one inside for when driving in convoys.
  9. I think it is 20mph on rubber [padded tracks], less if steel [tracks], hence the requirement for an orange flashing light. I stand to be corrected though.
  10. Fortunately most of that type don't! Also begs the question why weren't they drowned at birth?
  11. Thats the one. GS36 rings a bell. I'm sure we did some work on it at one time. Long after GS67 was painted maroon, visitors to our house would ask why we had a red bus bonnet in our garden (trying to stay on topic.....). Same reason our front door was bus red with bus transfers as a door number i 'spose...
  12. I know that 2 ex army austerity steam locos have just been donated to the Isle of Wight steam railway, who have restored both of them to running order. I believe that one or both, were at the Beverly museum They also have an ex-army diesel shunter which also works. The carriage seen in the pictures now resides in one of the sheds in Chatham dockyard.
  13. I know the germans had some 8 wheeled armoured cars, and some allied development vehicles were 8 wheeled armoured cars.
  14. My Dad also has a 1953 ex London Transport Guy Special bus, painted in Tillingbourne Valley maroon (they ran it for a while after LT). Everybody still tells him it should be green, and they were never maroon. Its now spent more of its life being maroon than it did being green, my Dad having owned it for 35+ years. He also painted it LT red just to piss of the know-it-alls when he first had it.
  15. Nice picture Nigel. Nice time to get on the forum, now you're famous.
  16. Nowadays a computer is a tool in a fitters arsenal of fixes, that requires looking after the same as all the tools in his box toolbox.
  17. David, I'm sure Nick would remind you "sold as seen....". It was working fine when you bought it.... All of our CVRT's were first put together using components the army has discarded for a reason- they don't work! (but you don't know this until you try them). We then have to find bits that do work. CVRT's seem to become allergic to their owners at times, and become very frustrating. You find that when they fail, by the time you get the deck off to investigate the fault, it has disappeared!
  18. I'd go for the spare dizzy. Haven't seen many fans that don't have some damage on them.
  19. We had a genuine Kuwait flag stolen from our 60 ft flag pole one night.
  20. One of our mates used to go to that school. The busses in the background live at one of our yards.
  21. It was at Horndean last year.
  22. Where there's the top off a tank, a truck in bits, or just a general lingering smell of diesel, thats where you'll find Mike and I.
  23. Looks like it wouldn't fall over as easily as the Foden wreckers did. You never know with army drivers though....
  24. Mike has 2 hairstyles a year- East European orphan, and silly student. I know who cut his hair (not me!), but I'm not sure he would appreciate me divulging this information. Needless to say, no money exchanged hands in the shearing of this creature.
