  1. Mike, you don't need a doorstop for your bedroom- all the MV parts in there prevent the door from closing... :shocking:
  2. Been there too. Found the whole trip rather worrying, especially as the driver had just had the engine deck up and the engine errupted into life in a plume of lack smoke...
  3. Driving on the way to and from the firepower show via the old kent road, i did feel sorry for tootall mikes poor clutch leg ..... All those traffic lights (mostly red), and me driving his pickup with an auto box... :goodidea:
  4. I've heard it said that a half track owner should put away a pound for every mile he drives to pay for replacement tracks. A friend of mine recently paid around £1500 for a set, so that would e around 1500 miles...
  5. Hello ladies and germs, just posting my first entry to introduce myself. Behind every tall man.....there is a short one. I can often be found helping tootall mike with his various restorations and mechanical conundrums. I currently have no vehicles of my own, as i have friends who, through no biological fault of their own, possess but one body with which to drive their collections of old vehicles. Anyway, it was getting boring with my vehicles being so reliable and needing so little attention. I have done an engineering apprenticeship in old vehicles as i worked for a company that restored and operated old busses. I currently work on trains as a diesel fitter. I have so far owned two Matatdor recovery trucks, a Zil 131, three land rover 101s, a 110 and various other land rovers. I have more recently been involved in CVRTs, and yes, i was the driver of the one that "expired" on the Purley one way system. My favourite tools are hammers and a quarter drive socket set. 8-)
  6. That is a proper Matador cab, just an early type. Looks like it has had a larger engine fitted as the radiator has been moved forward. Probably an AEC 11.3 from a militant judging by the exhaust. :-)
