Your Chev bonnet no. should start with a 3, the numbers starting 1 were for passenger cars(sedans) with between 2 and 7 seats. As far as I remember the two digit no. indicated the year antifreeze was added ie Prestone 44 would mean antifreeze put in rad in 1944, Prestone being a brand name.
Hope this helps, if you need it I can post a full list of all the type designation prefix numbers.

[quote Rambo 1969
My girlfriend wants me to do a landy for her in pink, guess what the answer was! ;-)
Has she visited N. Wales recently and seen the pink Defender 90 owned by one of our female customers?

You learn something every day, just goes to show how the same error can be repeated from one book to another.
-
Sorry, yes I did mean post war, the original tanks had a filler at each end of the tank.
-
Blonde, brunette, redhead or anything in between I assure you that you definitely qualify Berni
-
as you can probably tell we all had a few tears but also a few laughs.
i think everyone under the age of 20 needs to spend time with the over 60's.
Berni
OH YES !!! can I put my order in now Berni please, female ,preferably blonde,
just realised that description fits you doesn't it? would Russ notice your absence?

Great pics Joris, bring back many memories. Has any restoration work been done at Longues Battery?, in 2004 they were collecting money to start restoration. Heard about the sad death of that guy while in Normandy 2004 but rumour had it then that he was driving a weapons carrier, where did it happen?
-
We used to favour dropping truck wheels on to said stool, shock and gravity used to then take over.
-
Looks tidy RC, is it French PW manufacture?
-
Sounds like a good idea to me, nobody can afford to turn down business or free advertising, Land Rover owners, don't forget that a lot of parts going right back to series one are still available fom your
local Land Rover main dealer and are quite often cheaper than non-genuine parts. If you have a problem PM me and I will try to help, we do mail order and if I can't help I usually know someone who can.

Well done Clive, wondered wh'd spot that  what's 10mm between friends as the bishop said to..........
-
Wasn't the Carl Gustav 94mm?
-
Neil the part no you quote is the adaptor for a military tow hitch (not NATO) for S111 High Capacity Pick Ups, there is also a similar adaptor for the NATO hitch. Civilian rear cross members are manufactued with the correct holes to take the NATO hitch and all you should require is a spreader plate fitted behind cross member.

Hi Rick. give Craddock a ring on 0845 3444 130, they should have anything you need and won't sell you cheap and nasty Taiwan trash.
-
Hi Jack, have dealt with William on several occasions and have no hesitation in recommending him, anything specific you want to know give me a ring.
-
Yes Enigma, what you say is correct but not all troops landed wearing HBT's.
they also wore a British manufactured gas detection armband made of light brown paper treated with a reactive paint, when this came into contact with gas, pink spots would appear.
-
Spot on Jack, this is definitely a political con in order to squeeze us even more. The earth has been warming up and cooling down over millions of years and this is merely another chapter in it's evolution. The sooner we get rid of this totally corrupt administration the better.
-
Sorry Joris, you misunderstood, I have seen a number of pictures of infantrywearing HBT's, if I find the book(s) with the pics I will post the titles
-
Hi Joris, pictures of Infantry heading inland from Utah on D-Day show them wearing HBT's

Hi Chappers, if its any help Vanderveen says the engine was a 4 cylinder producing 71bhp, he lists the C8 and C9 as having a 4 cylinder producing 70bhp, I can't find any other reference to this size of engine. Is your's a Mk1 or Mk2? Good luck with the resto.

It could all have something to do with the stupid law thats come in regarding old vehicle storage and the definition of what is or isn't scrap. Farmers have always cannibalised old tractors and machinery to keep other things working but this no longer appears to be legal, we have recently had a visit from the local council on the pretext of checking on diesel storage but obviously also having a good look around. We have also been visited by the Water Authority and been compelled to change all taps and ball valves to a new type fitted with a non-return valve, no other farmer in the district has been spoken to about this!
-
No Enigma, it's a fleece lined round neck pullover
-
The info you want is definitely on the CCKW forum, I think Dr Deuce would be able to answer your question.
WW2 US bonnet numbers/Prestone markings
in American Vehicles

No, I can claim no credit at all, merely quoting Vanderveen. Good luck with finding the number.
