I have just read the british jeep in WW2, and they used anything they could get their hands on. They had teams to scavenge any useable tyres from any vehicles.
Which would account for the pics of jeeps sometimes seen with several different patterned tyres on the same vehicle.

I've had no streaming probs at all with HMVFtv but do sometimes suffer from the 'jerk' syndrome on youtube.

I have never seen the Prestone marking other than in plain script so would be somewhat suspicious of its origin especially as it is the only clear markimg on the truck.
-
Quite interesting that Jack, it certainly would make sense as most tyres have some sort of manufacturer's age code.

Just thinking a bit more about your vehicle, have you looked at the front bumper and the rear of the chassi to see if you can find any unit markings?
-
Sounds quite a job , good luck with your efforts.

Glad to hear you're getting there, you are very lucky if you can find an original hood no.

There is a pic of that Panther in a book I have but offhand can't remember which.

Probably not much difference, 265 is the width in millimetres, 75 means the sidewall depth is 75% of the width. Just worked it out, the 265 is 1mm smaller than the 235 but these are nominal measurements and variations occur between tyre manufacturers and tread patterns.

The only comfort for the farming communiyt would be for the government to pay compensation for the huge problems for which they are solely responsible. FAT CHANCE.

The nearest metric equivalent to 7.50x16 is 235/85/16.

Just had another thought Bodge,British troops administered some if not all of Austria at the end of the war so this company might have been rebuilding for the British.

Innsbruck is the Capital of the Austrian Tyrol.

So Clive does this mean that you now have a real vehicle and that you also have a new PC - please explain, I am confused and in shock :dunno:
Situation normal then  :-D

You're welcome.

I claim no credit at all Mark, there is a list on cckw.org under the heading 'Production Data'. I just knew where to look.
-
Hasn't Rex got what you need Jack? if not try Wildenberg they usually have most bits.
-
Mark, yours was built May '44, Abn Deuce, yours was February'45.
-
No Mark, they were 6 volt.

Yes you are correct Chris, I think very early Jeeps had a normal type of rim before the main production went on to the split/combat rim. The Hotchkiss used anormal type rim.
Just quit my job....
