  1. Oddly enough guys I used windscreen bonder to do my ferret tank supports and to fix the head pads in the turret too, there still there:D.
  2. Finally got the part for the brake master cylinder, had a few prob's with the postal system, but Past Parts were fantastic about it. So hear is a look at the new part next to the old part. They look very different so I hope it works, I don't suppose anyone has done this before???:-|
  3. I think your 'chap called John' already has your fantasy barn:rotfl:.

  5. Absolutely, post the pics on hear, will prob go down the road of a replica as its so much cheaper.
  6. Love this thread, I was 4 when the Falklands kicked off:rotfl:. But nothing beats a good old war story:). Keep them coming.
  7. I wonder is there anywhere I can buy a barrel with out the rest of the Gpmg?
  8. I don't have any pics but as I recall it was the anti-aircraft barrel that had a cone shaped flash eliminator, but we very rarely fitted them into our air defence Spartans, it was always in a trench in its ground role.
  9. http://www.track-kickers.com/inventory.php This company are making this.
  10. Pm sent, but for the rest of us following this thread, what's a 'short butterfly housing'?:-D I remember fitting our GPMG's with the anti-aircraft barrel, I think the only difference was the flash eliminator, it was cone shaped if memory serves.
  11. This is a thread I started. (http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?30307-GPMG-in-a-Ferret&p=308338#post308338) Was trying to find out The best value for money way to fit a GPMG into my Ferret, But now I'm thinking It might never have had a GPMG fitted, so it's all in the air at the mo:help:.
  12. The asset code was (A 03 0130 4231) then it was changed to (A 03 0135 4000). Does that help any?
  13. :thanx:thanks mate, shall I pm you my e-mail? Ross
  14. I wouldn't mind a copy of this too?? Ross
  15. Hear is my Ferret's history card. I don't see anything on hear that suggests it was changed to a GPMG. If you can read it, it says something about being reclassified from class1 to class 2, and then again to class 3 in 1970/71. Any idea what that means?
  16. Found this on another thread; http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?18851-Northern-Ireland-Ferrets&highlight=ferret+gpmg I was under the impression that all ferrets were converted to GPMG, is this not the case? Should I be looking for a .303 instead? I also found out that if I did fit a GPMG that it should be a NO.6 MK.1, I think the current gun is a NO.7 MK.2
  17. If I knew it all I wouldn't be on hear:Dlol. If I go down the road of a de-ach gun, they went through several mod's, so a late GPMG might not fit an early gun mount. I really need to find some one who has done this before:readbook:. And someone who has fitted either the Airsoft or replica one's too.
  18. The butt on the real Gpmg is detachable so you could fit it in vehicles, at least the ones we had were, you could fit them into the cupola of the Spartan, or in its ground role.
  19. Hi Andy, Yea Gpmg's are an extortionate price, and the Airsoft version is around a grand too. But what ever I get it has to fit into the gun mount. http://www.milweb.net/classifieds/large_image.php?ad=60433&cat=57
  20. Hi guys, I have chosen to fit my Ferret mk2,s turret with a GPMP gun mount. But I dont know witch one to fit, there are 3 options open to me. 1. A deactivated gun. (not sure what mk/model it should be) 2. A replica. (not sure if the but can be removed and if it will fit) 3. An Airsoft version. (same prob as the replica) Has anyone tried to fit any of these into there ferret and if so any advice?
  21. I believe they went through a life extension program, I know some of them were not released till as late as 93.
  22. Does anyone have any pic's of clansman radios fitted into stalwarts?? thanks Ross
  23. Started work on the brake master cylinder's. After removing and striping down the only part that needs replacing is one of the valve rubbers. Have ordered the part from 'Past Parts'. hear is there part number and price if anyone is interested. They told me they were in the middle of overhauling a master cylinder for a Stalwart for someone else, so if your thinking of taking the plunge down into the belly of the beast I'm sure they will have all the parts needed, after all the cost of replacing the unit it outrageous. 17-7184 price £11.47+ vat. Note; this is for the MK2 Stolly.
