  1. The fake gun was on OP tanks, command tanks retained their armament. There were command tanks, control, rear link and OP. All had different roles and equipment.
  2. On my screen it looks more like a brownish colour with a hint of green.......
  3. With the much thinner armour and hull stowed ammunition, just as likely if hit. However, being RA equipment they were less at the sharp end than the tanks, though just as much in harms way!
  4. I wonder if they were imported purely for use as targets.
  5. That's nothing.... Nigel, 53, who works for me says so many of what we have come to call Nigelisms that we have to write them all down. Such as:- ''She had a pain in her chest and went to hospital to have an anagram'' ''It was just an obstacle galusion'' ''The rain is coming down like steroids'' and many other pearls of wisdom!
  6. I've had my Cromwell for 18 years, is that prolonged enough for you? Mind you, I've had the Sherman for 20 so what does that mean......:cheesy:
  7. A 105 only shoots a maximum of a puny 7 miles, we could sit out of range and blow you away!
  8. I've just bought him lunch! I did make him promise to be nice to me in future.....
  9. It's the junctions that cause the problems. The temptation to let the convoy regroup means the tanks near the front end up sitting waiting and that is not good as Maurice points out. It didn't happen much last time and I was impressed how well the convoy flowed but it is a problem. Normal convoy practice, i.e slowest first makes more sense than a wartime order of march which is more relevant at a slower speed.
  10. It's the Sherman book to have, I'm just glad I got mine over 20 years ago when they were £30 new!
  11. It is, Pzkpfw-e did put it in the caption. It is a Sherman III DD, an M4A2. Would be a nice one to recover and restore.
  12. That's fighting talk where I come from......:box: You're lucky I moved!
  13. Very nice! You know the wiring was all black originally though......
  14. Well it is a good restoration with no filler. There were no shell holes to fill of course as it was not from a range. If it had been hit, it would have just collapsed in on itself like playdoh does....... All joking aside, it is a fantastic result and I wish it was still mine! It was just one too many restorations for me, I knew I had too many major projects and I'd just be kidding myself to think I would ever get round to it.
  15. I really think you're drifting off into fantasy now....... You do know M10 armour is made from playdoh don't you?
  16. I am indeed better protected and I have no need for a steel bar in my tube to prevent droop.......
  17. I'd better start clearing a space in the shed for the M10. I assume to the victor goes the spoils?
