on a serious note a "stealth" U-boat was recently discovered in the Solent, i believe the boat was encased in a rubber skin which prevented it from being detected by sonar ?
Ashley
that rubber was fitted by British divers to prevent it breeding with the allied dukws
-
I dont think it was the assault glider trust doing this as I think the glider was being built in the USA andbeing bought over in an American air force transport plane
-
is that the original stealth u boat?
-
I came accross this picture of a German WW 1 one man tank, no futher information.
be useful for getting back at all the volvo drivers who seem to like hitting bikes so much
-
some time ago there was a request by someone for the winch mechanism to attach a dakota to a horsa glider for a glider either being built or restored to fly to Normandy this year, does anybody know if this project was completed and will it really be flying to Normandy this year and if so where and when will it be landing?

at least if they are at Utah trying to look sincere we might get a bit of peace in the British sector and the vets might get the respect they deserve rather than being props in the Brown publicity shots

the yellow highwayman is now part way through an extensive rebuild in a showmans yard local to me along with another similar truck which originated from the Guiness brewery at Park Royal

Got to be my favorite, even if a lot is underground. Batterie Lothrign.
Battery lothringen is a great place but for quality restoration in the area you really need to see Corbiere m19 mortar bunker ,I am sure Tony would agree the resto there is fantastic ,particularly as it is all voluntary

Hello CW, do you know what the U shaped brackets are for?
A chap on another forum is building one & would like to know, cheers P
I think the U shaped brackets are for holding load securing timbers if the boat is used for carrying cargo rather than troops
-
I see some of these do not apply to 2 wheeled vehicles but what about the others its just that carrying a fire extinguisher,hi vis jacket ,first aid kit spare bulbs, spare glasses and warning triangle etc may mean leaving waterproofs at home

so it wasnt the snow that kept Jack from Holland he was simply waiting for a few people to be out of the way before he gave up and called the AA
-
as all the vehicles are supposed to run you had better not show Jack the GMC with the snow shoes strapped to the side
-
there is a chap selling these(repro) on ebay going by the user name "pegasus drive",he can also be contacted via the allied reenacting forum,I think his name is Frank Brown
-
just a short post to reierate everything that has already been said ,it really was a great day following the airborne route into Arnhem seeing the high ground occupied by the German forces and then crossing John Frost Bridge and then onto what must be one of if not the best military vehicle museums in Europe and all with an expert commentary from our hosts, truly a day to remember with good company and excellent cakes and to show our gratitude we even took some proper English weather to share.
