  2. be very careful if buying a welbike as there are many replicas about even the one on display at the birmingham motorcycle museum contains a great deal of replica parts, the person you need to speak to is a Mr Church, his wife is the area secretary of the Barnet area mvt and earlier this year I spent a couple of hours talking to him about welbikes and he was explaining all the tell tale signs to look for on a replica and he said that if ever I decided to buy one I could contact him and he would give me a few more pointers.

  3. I went to Netley Eurojumble on the friday before Beaulie but there was very little military stuff about,it is a motorcycle only event but other bits sneak in occasionally unfortunately for me like most other jumbles nowadays the ratio of jap parts/bikes to British is increasing fast but as has been said if you dont go you dont know what you may have missed

I observed in detail how Mon's works - and the success of A&E will be down to 1st class marshalling....

I intend to be there on my m20 and will be happy to carry out convoy duty and have mentioned the event on the wdm20 website and I know several other bikes will be available for convoy control

  7. When we went to Schichpol last year no one really bothered whith our passports. Those with a heavy sun tan got the full third degree. Mind you some of the customs , emmigration officials at Schipol. Cor,

as Tony said no one was bothered about passports this side but it took bloody ages to take off and relace my paraboots ,still at least I had no holes in that pair of socks

  8. a most useful site for m20s and indeed all wartime British bikes is the wdm20 website and forum run by Henk Joore and as for parts and advice the man you need to speak to is Ian Wright of Ark motorcycles in Devon generally recognised as the m20 guru

  10. thanks for the info Stefano I know just about nothing about these little bikes so am always glad to learn something new ,the only queestion this raises is that with a number as low as this one would it still have the ML prefix ,also would it not seem logical that postwar bikes with the ML numbers are late military bikes converted for civvy use when they were no longer needed to fulfill a military contract prior to civilian production restarting?

  11. Hello Darren ,yes I got back from Normandy saturday night skint and knackered as usual, I think the fact that the frame number starts with ML signifies that it is indeed a military bike although I could be wrong,I will post the question on the wd motorcycle forum tonight and see if I can get any info for you ,also I think if you go into Borders bookshop in St Helier they have a copy of the bible of wartime Brit bikes BRITISH FORCES MOTORCYCLES by Chris Orchard and Steve Madden which may help, having just had a quick look at my copy it appears that the first military contract stats at frame number 11896 so this one appears earlier unless the number has been altered or misread anyway I will post the question and give you a ring when I get some info
