  1. Good to have you here on the Friendly Forum. This is the place to be.Hopefully you can find something already beyond hope to tart up and tow rather than twang a usable mv. The K9 looks straight enough. There are a few more on the forum and they should be able to detail what goes where and whether you'll find the stuff. all the best, MB
  2. Hey, that's Paul. He's a good bloke (the official, I mean, I don't know the tankie). Do us a favour and email me this snap and I'll send it to him. MB
  3. Great snaps Davie - great effects. Just goes to show what you can do with a Zenith. You'll have to show me how you do that clever stuff. It's me. Yes, I mean - me - I do have snaps of you, It's Me, in the M36. But I didn't know it was you. I blame it on that hair cut. I have a very nice hat. MB
  4. nil desperadum mon brave, carpe diem, sic transit gloria and ubique. Now I know what your theme music will be. We'll have to get one of the ladies to do the Mrs Peel bit, but I suppose Enigma looks a bit like Joanna Lumley. I suppose you could have a passing resemblance to Gareth Hunt, which incidentally, is NOT cockney rhyming slang for Gareth Hunt. Poor bugger's corked it anyway. Quo Vadis (the triple box set including Caroline played on the spoons).
  5. Welcome Phil, Lovely looking Matador you have there. Always nice to see. Have fun at GDSF and hopefully you'll meet up with plenty of HMVFers before the season ends. MB
  6. If I get time I'll do one. I was thinking the same thing. I've got a lot on - but I was reasonably placed to see most things. Unless young Harry wants to do one to propell his work experience rocket. M
  7. Fantastic. Perhaps the aerobunch can illucidate.
  8. Orange eye brows. Are they Kennel Club approved ? :cool2:
  9. What? The Avenger is the big radial engined torpedo bomber with a gunner behind the pilot. Four. Have you been on the mushrooms again?
  10. Yes, you did. I think I've seen that movie. You may be on the wrong forum! A funny thing usually happens on the way to it. Which brings us back in a funny way to Pinky and Perky. No where near as random as Tinga & Tucker, of course.
  11. Hello Brooky and welcome to the Friendly Forum from the Politburo of Moderators. I hope you get as much pleasure out of HMVF as many of us do. Some are here for punishment and others are here because they think we have a troupe of Dancing Girls. It's a bit like It Ain't Half 'Ot Mum, but without the heat and various other things. Our founder and leader, who knows a plank when HE sees one, is off stitching together a few old tents somewhere on the Jurassic Coast. We all know a fossil when WE see one. Let's see if he bites. MB
  12. The great Noel Murphy Tells us that Muffin The Mule is a sex offence. Pinky and Perky were alive and well in Billericay last weekend. A guest at the wedding I attended produced his guitar and ran through a series of Elvis and Neil Diamond songs, singing in a voice not unrelated to the bacon duo. My father in law and our auntie from Canada were trapped and had to sit through it while the rest of us ran and hid...sniggering. MB
  13. Don't be such a grumpy old man. Wherever will this lead, young Mr B? Think of life as being like a rich tapestry rather than a moth eaten blanket. Live the dream Walk the Line. Think up other annoying metaphors. Drink more tea. :coffee:

Great stuff. I still want to see the old girl with some grunts milling about, even if you cannot fly them for safety reasons. Thanks for keeping us up to date and good luck with the restoration project. MB
  15. I doubt very much if the Matador would have been used in any such role because it was primarily an artillery tractor. If you can marry up a QL cab then you will have an approximation which you would get away with but you will not be satisfied. You would be better with O series cabbed Bedfords like you find with the old Queen Mary Trailer set, but these are not easy to find are they! - and they'd not fit anything else. I would think you might be better lookin at one of the specialist 1/76th MV makers and get a few straight models rather than break the Airfix classics. There is no use for a Scammell unless you use it purely for fun because they look so good. You might get away with the odd 1/76th jeep - but an Austin 10 car or suchlike (any of the Tillies) would be far better. I'm spending your money for you.
  16. I know. Certain members of my family will make sure I get one. I can tell you where it will go as soon as it arrives....the shredder. I'm not fussed about the thought of being fifty. I ripen with age - but the idea of a cruise with Statler and Waldorf does not appeal.
  17. Ok, according to Wikepedia the Mi-8 is the former king of Sicily - no.... the Mi-8 is the Hip and the Mi-17 is basically an improvement the Russians call the Mi-8M. So the 17 has the same Nato name presumably.
  18. me too - it annoyed me yesterday - but didn't get time to check it. will do. News story is accurate in essence though.
  19. Apparently they are designed to work well in extreme temperatures. I think the number purchased will be low - two to start with. Spares are no problem...
  20. How do they sleep? What annoys me is that they can probably walk into a scrap yard run by a likeminded soul with them and get the money. I'd chop their hands off. There are worse crimes I know, but why do we have the knack of producing this kind of scum? MB
  21. I was thinking more of tea and biscuits at this time of the day - but cola and pistachios might do. Vive la difference. mb
  22. I do not invite any comment of a political nature. But you may be interested to see that HMG is buying second hand Mi-17 HIP troop carrying helicopters from Bulgaria to use in Afghanistan. MB
  23. MORE PLEASE....these are cool. :-D
