  1. Think chassis bckt could be to take the silencer part of the exhaust system, not sure what the cross member bckt is though :cool2:
  2. Not a massive amount of progress lately, Flat spot sorted by tweaking the timing a bit but still more to do to get the engine running sweet mid range. Can't for the life of me find my spare dizzy so will persevere with the one fitted at the mo. Have managed to sort out both rear view mirrors and O/S wing refitted with re profiled bckt which made a vast difference on its fit. N/S wing final fitting along with mud flap next to do.
  3. Bad luck with the gearbox mate but at least you noticed it in time, anyways it's good practice for you 😉 you are not the only one with problems uploading images, I think everyone else is suffering too and the threads are starting to look a shambles, have brought it the attention of the hmvf but have had no response and the problem persists.
  4. Will this information be posted on the mvt website for all to read and understand, you make the argument without stating what exactly is proposed, plus the pros and cons. Personally I think its a no brainer and I shall vote in favour for the proposal an extra tenner seems cheap to get the cover required to allow us peice of mind when exhibiting our vehicles in public should the worse happen. I asked the question how many hmvf members have PLI and I can't remember any replies. As a carpenter my PLI only costs me £70 or so but that's double the proposed increased in mvt membership . RR.
  5. Thanks for the info the wings are off an oy and the base paint colour is navy blue.
  6. Ah yes there is a plate, its a thin bit of tin riveted on , but I too have no idea as to its function will clean it up to see if there are any markings on it, I still have to investigate the off side wing for markings too.
  7. well lets see if things have improved, had a look at a pair of spare front wings this morning and found this - anchor and letter A on front of nearside wing. Any ideas chaps ?. after swapping the bckts and re profiling one I have now managed to re fit the wing and sorted the mud flap . Hmm same old problem still !!!!! ??????
  8. Thanks John, I think the images are too large for some reason, I have uploaded from my camera and phone with the same frustrating results :-( hopefully this problem will get resolved. J.
  9. Wheel box's finally finished along with the mudguards / mudflaps. had a problem with the fitting f he front wings, decide to take off the bckts that help stiffen them up, only to find the offside bckt distorted bit of gent persuasion and all is well :-D
  10. Hi all Am having problems updating my restoration blog on the MW, everythime I try to upload a photo a thumbnail appears underneath by the time I've added half a doz pic's the page is full of duplicates, I haven'tbeen able to update progress for over a week now and wonder what has caused this to occur, it could be me pressing the wrong tit but I have no idea. RR.

  16. There was one living near me for years, but I believe it's returned to Jacksons
  17. Ross on wye auto jumble is on Saturday the 15th and coleford carnival of transport is on Monday the 17th, the auto jumble is mainly motorcyle but I always manage to find the odd goody :cool2: the coleford show is very good as they shut the town centre off and fill it with classic cars etc, there is usually a smattering of military vehicles, you never know I might drag the MW there if it's somewhere near finished. If you like walking then have a stroll through the forest behind the speechouse hotel, during ww2 this area was used as the second largest above ground ammunition storage area in the UK. Also set in a wall alongside the speechouse is a memorial to Sgt Prior whose Westland Whirlwind crashed into the field sadly killing instantly. At Goodrich Castle is a stained glass memorial to the crew of a Halifax bomber lost while carrying out secret radar trials the crash took the lives of some important scientists who were on board. Car boots at Monmouth, Ross, coleford and Ledbury, Best to Google to find details etc, as I havn't been to a boot sale for yonks. Hope that's been of some use. J.
  18. After losing a few days due to man flu I managed to drag myself down t'shed to get some of the myriad of small jobs finished on the drivers side Fitting angle iron to side boards. Fitted the timber above the tool box and finished the rubbing strakes. Angle irons to the wheel boxes both sides.
  19. what a brave man :-D pinching the saucepan not attempting to make the filter,go on get the felt and sewing machine out then Pete , it's a real faff I'll warn you now :nut: by the way it's great to see more progress on your resto
  20. Hi Danny that looks like a set of blocks I posted on eBay a while ago, they're very close reproductions of early cab blocks the difference is that later cabs did not have the curved block for the Jack as it was located in a different position. I can make you a set using Canadian red cedar or give you a cutting list so you can make your own
  21. Thanks Danny and Alex it's nearly done, and it only took 4 years :nut: as usual the devil is in the detail and like most restorations are they ever complete 100% there is always that small detail etc or that bit of kit that's needed, I'm still looking for odd bits for my Norton and I've owned that for 33 years :cool2: that's another thing about owning different flavours of millitary vehicles there is always something to be found at a sale or auto jumble to help empty the pockets :wow:
  22. Hi Richard I have a pile of front and rear spring leaves post a list of what you need and I'll have a look and see whats there lurking in t'shed
  23. I'll check my chillwell cards for early 44 contracts
