  1. Rob,

You need to get the Merlin report, you can do this by submitting a freedom of information request. There should be threads on here with the address.

    Chris

Here's the one I have just done for my FV1611A.

I guess the key is to tell them as much as you know already?????

    Best of luck.

I am not holding my breath, but you never know

  2. Apart from the door fitted side mirrors query that Clive answered via the 'Pig Pictures' thread I am wondering where would be best to buy a wiper arm that fits the Pig or even a pair of them.

Also the wiper blades are tiny so that would be a help too.

I can use the parts book, but if someone knows the other vehicle(s) that shared the same item, that would be useful.

Thanks to the knowledgeable collective. :-)

    Cheers

  3. Happy days :rotfl::banana:these little beauties arrived in todays post after making the patterns and sorting the casting its nice to see the end result has turned out so well mainly thanks to Rippos hard work on the fettling and machining can't wait to fit them to the truck soon :-D

It'll be a shame to paint them

Also had good news on the radiator as its sorted and is waiting to be picked up :-D

    Who's a happy bunny then ??? :cool2:

  4. Should be except for NI when anything available might have been fitted.

Having now viewed and researched what a Lucas type 160 mirror is I am in agreement that the Winguard sized oblong mirror I had was a sensible alternative in terms of size and proportion.

The images I have seen of NI vehicles as you do suggest have a bigger mirror, but these are on the markers/ arms attached to the front locker corners, which is where they would go on an Uparmoured Mk II.

Thanks for the information and detail.

  5. The original is a design going back to WW2 made by Lucas as a complete assembly 160A/75, the head under VAOS as LV6/MT3/44106

    Glass 2 15/16 x 5 5/16 x 1/8 inches

Got it thank you v much. Are the ones in the PIG in service image links the Pukka item then, so I have a visual note too

  6. These look identical to the one that broke off. Very inexpensive and same size

Alternatively and slightly larger / more expensive is the old Series Landrover metal backed ones

I suspect this is the one to find a copy or original for in the attached image link from internet.

    Cheers

  7. Wayne. The correct is a metal cased item Mirror, driving, oblong, convex These are outrageously expensive & not easy to find.

I see and thanks! Is there a maker for this type of correct mirror Clive, as you never know when One is out and about at Auto Jumbles and the like, rooting for that elusive item :)

Also do you happen to know the dimensions for said correct mirror, or is the 6x4" about right.

    Thanks as always ;)

  8. Clive

I have noticed a mixture or side mirror details between the Pigs on many forums and many WWW. imagery suggest many versions etc.

Can you tell me the correct location and type of mirror for my type 2.

I had one rectangular WINGUARD mirror on the drivers door, but that has now become brittle and snapped off!

It was around 6" x 4" in size.

    Thanks

  9. OMG No! :mad::wow:

It will be DBG or perhaps Desert ???? My son loves the 'Sand' colour better than green and as mine is believed not to be NI, but BAOR. :-D

It will most definitely not be the RIOT CONTROL vehicle with its number 4179 on the air intake plate I uncovered the other day.

It has definitely been in something on TV or film, no doubts to look like a SWAT truck, but I won't be carrying that on I'm afraid.

I hope you are not disappointed with that? :nono::nono::clap::clap::clap:

  10. Clive those lockers are looking ace if you don't mind me saying.

Further to our discussions on this I thought it helpful to share some images of mine to show another version.

I hope they are of use and show the internal sides and floor and the underside etc.

Let me know if you need more and I will see what images I have on file.

PS I am still looking at the side lockers / cabling query :-)

    Ignore the starter motor.

You will note that the rear locker support 'flat' strapping has had some contact with something and been twisted slightly.

  11. I recall a comment about a Piggy being towed in 4WD and it made me think of the message painted on my transmission cover. It may have been a regular error by drivers, or in a panic situation bugging out?

It wont have been the bottle of beer either boys as it was alcohol free ;) :cool2:

  12. I've noticed your chassis is painted black!

The chassis on mine is most definitely DBG and I can only assume it to be original.

Are you top coating in DBG or is black original specification.

    Cheers

PS I forgot to mention my wipers worked yesterday also.

It was a day of revelations yesterday. ;)

  13. My old mate Wayne called by to drop off the elusive Bedford spanner and some Champ gearbox circlips all in all a good day

You make a 'Fine' brew matey, Great to see you and the spanner had to be yours with the MW in the stable.

Glad the clips were of use! See you and Mrs T soon :D

  14. yes model is a lot more fiddly though this filter has been fiddly too :nut:

Almost after just need to fit elbow and put top coat on.

    Not Bad for a 'Chippy'

    ;););):D

  15. EMLRA history searches use the Merlin System to get data I think? Depending on when the Merlin System was introduced, the service history for a 1964 Land Rover may be missing. Clive, do you happen to know when the old card system was replaced?

Your vehicle (94EL31) is from the same batch of 1401 vehicles as mine. The contract is WV2985 and covered ERM's 83EL25 to 97EL25. As I do not know the first two digits of my ERM I know it is one of 14 vehicles! I have spoken to Deepcut about this and they have confirmed that they do have a complete run of cards for this contract.

It's amazing what you read and it just passes you by as it were.

Whilst going through the process of sell or keep with my Rover 8 FFR recently I have noticed that it's ERM is 93EL57, which pitches it right in the heart of the contract run. The data plate does indeed state WV/2985.

I have uncovered some markings from a TA signals sqn on it, but was always wondering if deepcut had any records.

From what you say Ferret it may be possible. Nice to know I guess

  16. the rest are just civillian vehicles with pretensions!

    Oh dear TonyB

Making those kind of suggestions can land a man in trouble, or at worst suggest that the FVRDE dressed up a Landy off the Street.

Having owned and maintained many civi and specialised old Landies, they were most definitely not dressed up town vehicles. :wow::shocked::nono:

Indeed the origins of the 1/2 ton and a lot of its working parts are directly from the evolution of the pretentious SI & S11's 1/4 tons 88"

Sorry mate but you pricked a nerve! I know what you are attempting to say though :D

    Grrrr
