  4. I have over the years had the following migs Snap on 140 amp... dreadful Butters 150 super excellent sold to go into divorce fighting fund!! sip 240 present unit excellent replaced torch for good quality unit would recommend I always use mix gas 5% far better than co2, make sure the weld area is clean, and tack 1st, then very short runs more like long tacks with old steel like ours, or you'll end up with the molten weld pool falling out leaving a big hole :-o . Use tip dip this prevents slag bid up in the torch shroud and tip. Also clamp the joint well together so in can lift with the heat. Haynes manuals do an informative manual on body work repair spraying and welding, useful to all even those of us who know it all

Oh and gentlemen it would appear the sprogs now take the p-ss out of us, as we did of the 23 club etc. No respect th youth of today. Medals is a very emotive issue to which I would say watch the episode of dads army when they have the parade and the medals come out. The one who grizzled and bellyached most was Mannering with................. none. I have no prob as long the rank of medal is worn in context and not played on etc. VC's MM's (not the nice chocolaty bottons Jack) DFC's etc are not necessary. :-D Regards Hardyferret Hey Hey have a nice day !!!
  10. Last sat in the pouring rain Jack, Jess and I picked up the latest project. A 1/2 ton landrover ( lightweight) 2A built 11/12/68 400th 0ff production line so in 1st batch. Saved from being broken and it's chassis and tax exemption being sold!! The whole escapade was so emotional for Jack and I, we had to have a celebration drink , if I remember rightly we left Jack's at about 2.30 sun morning. Jack it appears then tucked into a hearty helping on beans on toast, I digress. Later sunday changed carb plugs leads and fuel pump, and it runs quite nicely. The plan is to rebuild onto a new galvanised chassis, along with after rebuilding the bulkhead and having it galvanised. The 2a lightweight is a rare beast now as most have been worked to death and offroaded, and I have hunted for quite a while. Hope to get pics up of restoration, soon.... Regards Hardyferret lightweight.... only my vehicle
