A Stalwart went past, but unfortunately I never got a photo, met the owner who was a nice bloke though. A mixture of Petrol and Deisel Pinzgauer from both ends of the line The petrol 710M are smaller than the deisel 716 4x4 and are not a bad looking vehicle A 716M P90 getting tidied up. The silver paint was applied to cover the camoflage at export to meet customs requirements A 716M P90 mortar carrier which have a few quirky difference but the big chunk of plate for extra ballast behind the NATO hook is the easiest identifier Gregor's 716K P80 A very nice 718M P80 auto

Well went to Shropshire to buy some Pinz bits and found out the entire area is littered with exMod bases. The area where one of the Pinz location is an ex airforce base, so I hope to get some more snaps this morning. You can make out the WREN only above the toilet door Small weapon range
8. Anyone have an idea what Abington Hall was used by the Army for during WW2? I thought we had the history here, but just looking at the book says 'used by the Army' then in 1946 was bought by an Aussie 'Ramsay Moon' for 3850 quid and established TWI (The Welding Institute). Most likely I am jetlagged but seen very little reference to the building on the internet
9. Well lots done so only a few piccies. Had to make up a mock up of one of the heater pipes to get fabricated in stainless steel. On the P93 when you fill the radiator it fills through the the heater line, I guess to try and minimise the entrapped air. To fit into the P90 with minimum fuss I needed a 1 in, 2 out configuration as one goes to the radiator and the other goes to one of the radiator pipes. The P93 accelerator linkage (lower) is different as it has a step in it to get past the intercooler line cutout. Sat the roof rack on the top to see what needs moving and where I will have to cut for the aircon. Well better get packed to get on the plane...... no Pinz work for several weeks
10. Thats pretty :cool2: Pinz have a lot of 6mm inserts and using the hand tool is doable but no real joy. The new toy can go up to 10mm as can use a 10mm spanner to tighten it.
11. Had the offsider drilling one of them whilst I was drilling a few on the other and he snapped 4 drill bits. So ground what I thought was left and knocked them off with a coldchisel, then found some more, then some more :-\ The intercooler bracket is fairly thick compared to the floor so the scrap distorts. Also good when using the gas axe as I heat it a bit and the spots showed up than melted the floor off. Worked quite well, but as you said normally I would have drilled them all but my hamfisted assistant foiled that plan.
12. Well never got the rivnut gun out today as was under pressure to get the P93 floor and intercooler mounts fitted. Started with a bit of gas axe work The modified P93 floor with space for intercooler tubing is at the top. At the bottom is the intercooler mount and a few other brackets I needed. Was trying to figure how I was going to get some sembalance of straight lines with what I had laying around. Then figured on using masking tape, then a dab of primer. Worked out quite well. Both floor sections need some dent bashing out. The guy who spot welded the intercooler mounts/stiffeners on must have been a bit happy that day as more spots than on a 13 year olds face. So after using a cold chisel on 15 or so I started melting them off with the gas axe and seemed less stressful than beating a big hammer into a chisel. Hopefully tomorrow I will have all the bits ready to go... Then cut the floor on My one..........................
13. yep I got a few choices and having a cunning plan hatching for a few more. I have to get to a boot sale by Cambridge I know of as missed them, catch up with some Lightweight owners, buy spares........... oh nearly forgot do some work
14. Going to have a play with it now, but all it all it seems far superior to the arm breaking lever type. I was thinking of my Land Rover when I was thinking if they made this for plain rivets as changing 10 rivets on a Rover is a workout.
15. I bought this Rivnut tool as the usual rivent type gun installation is a pain. UK design and manufacture, damn nice..... I wonder if they make a rivet tool also http://www.youtube.com/insertsdirect2008#p/a
16. Well definately flying.... so monday morning back in sunny UK
17. hmm, all food for thought. A bit stressed as late last night got another schedule change so I had a dummy spit and told them, rather directly to inform me once the could organise themselves or anything else. I think I am in UK for all of those :nut: well if I believe the confirmed plan as of yesterday morning and not the one in flux at 11pm last night. I'll have to try to blend in and not look like a tourist so I will unpack the hat with corks and the Hawain tshirt. I could have said big knife but then I would have been thought a local (my poke at knife crime in the UK which was going nuts last time I was there).
18. Curious if any shows are on over the next 4 weeks? Supposed to be landing Monday morning at Heathrow, unless we get another spanner in the works
19. I was impressed with this http://www.goatpark.force9.co.uk/tempsite/steerep.htm restoration
20. I wonder if can get data plates made over here... guess can but no ideas off the top of my head. But definately a big difference, in design
21. Cheers :thanx: Something to look for tonight when I get home from work. Just started the new job yesterday so must 'look' productive
22. Be easy to replicate though for these restorations Are the sprockets exactly the same as the Bren Carriers? Could you ask the Tank Museum? I mention that as I found a book the other day that was full of drawings of Churchill parts done by the tank museum. I will have a dig around tonght and see if there is any carrier stuff in there. Nothing thus far on Loyds
23. I used to work in a radiator repair shop years and years ago.... To do an engine flush we used to add chemical to the radiator, caustic for steel, run the car for 'x' amount of time then plug a 'thing' into the radiator hose. The 'thing' was connected to a water hose, air and was shaped like a funnel to fit snugly into the radiator hose. Anyone know what said 'thing' may be called as just spent an hour looking for one on Ebay. Quite a simple 'thing' but not so easy to find as yet.
24. Something of possible interest, or perhaps what occured to me is that when we initially size the back up to sleep in there we always look at the floor between the two sides. I saw a German 716 camper conversion and what he did is run the bed above the floor from the LHS wall, not accross the floor as that is a waste of space. The RHS, above your toolboxes whould be the inner storage cabinets etc. found the link http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/viewtopic.php?t=4603
25. We picked up some of these boxes and seem quite rugged... May buy another 10 to hide stuff in
