1. Apparently a lot have been scrounged up for the local museums but who knows what is laying around.
2. over here C is bad as they want 5 of them... or 5C's Credit Card Cash Career (= you are rich) Car (preferably a Mercedes) Condominium I think a more heavilly armoured vehicle could be more practical as can lock yourself inside with the Pathfinder magazine, with thick armour, some mood music you will be oblivious to the outside world for the sake of a happy marriage I would recommend this http://www.milweb.net/webverts/54808/
3. I dont know about being nonpractical as I just saw on a reputable motoring website this comment "Best of all you can park absolutely wherever you want to, and you no longer have to worry about shopping-trolley rash at the super-market". http://www.4wdonline.com/Mil/Ferret/Ferret.html
4. Apparently taken 5 years ago and was basically where they were abandonned. Glad I could provide some entertainment. I had some Yemeni guys on course also so I asked if the knew of any wrecks over there way also
5. Had a Vietamese student in my class this week and got discussing MV's and he sent pictures of the following wrecks by the beach that he photographed http://www.panoramio.com/photo/15351396 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/14750151
6. From an outside point of view on a topic well discussed by us expats, is you are correct on that front. I often am flabbergasted by what gets accepted by the populace some times as there seems to be no concerted effort to point a point of view accross. Seen it discussed in here many times. I think this is the ultimate post as sometimes people get a bit passionate about their subject material, whether it be DVLA or recoverys etc and start calling people to$$ers or idiots etc and this makes me cringe. First of all that to$$er or idiot may be someones good friend or brother of another HMVF member so the vitriolic posts start. Then bottom line in the legal sense and the proliference of legal suits calling someone a to$$er, idiot or in anyway demeaning them can be classed as defamation or slander Sorry it kinda bugs me, thankfully most the postings in here are of a well spirited manner
7. He seemed to be having a wow of a time. I like my playing but I hope not to be upside down that often I always thought this video of a Pinz is crazy also
8. pretty sure I got a manual for a 2.5 if you need that section I can send it over

A lot of info on the Real 4x4 fourm also http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=3cb60d2e4e510f089fd1537ca5ebb41b Any piccies, is it an ex military one?
10. seriously worrying about my sanity as could be moving quicker but I keep repainting bits no-one will see unless I run over them rear diff done
11. yes I was going to mention a cracked line also as very common just need the timing belt tools so unless you know the age of belt may as well get the kit
12. A better picture here of it getting reassembled, there is some taper on it so they can swivel up and down. Got the front diff back in 'but' it's not seating properly, so will have to finesse it tomorrow Axles are out of the second diff so this will be rebuilt as a rear one
13. The reason I am pulling the diffs out and apart is the axles are fully articulating and have a seal at the diff casing. My ones started leaking after I did an oil change (typical) and the only way to change them is to completely diassemble the diffs. On most pinz there is an o-ring seal but on the P93 axles they use some fancy loctite sealent (apparently much better). Leave them in the sun to cure I had hoped to finish the front one and install today but the diff casings have been coated in under body sealant which took ages to clean off for one. So tomorrow I will high pressure wash the bits that need painting.
14. I will have to remember that as with the inspection side we find a lot of interesting things and sometimes we need civils input. Next job is a tank job buried inside a hill, concrete reinforced.
15. Curious what do you specialise in? I inspect petro chem stuff and we get some weird civil issues from time to time.
16. so is it common practice to spill your beer and lick it back off the concrete? I been drunk on the odd occaision and not done that Tiles perhaps
17. Front diff out so Friday (public holiday) is looking like a busy day
18. Well the guys spent most the day moving assorted Pinz spares around the yard. The 6x6 is nearly all gone. They removed my front axle so I can do the replacement on the weekend, but no photos
19. I was a bit suspicious about one of the hubs as saw that it had been reassembled and a seal looked dodgy, so decided to look inside  Looks like reassembled and driven without a bearing
20. Well seems like a good day today as sent the 'new' injection pump for a service then started diassembling the 6x6 P93 diffs. The previous 6x6 owner installed new brake pads or they blew the truck up just after installing them So the plan is to pressure wash this pile of goodies and rebuild them tomorrow.
21. Lightweights are the best Landy, damn simple Have you got the wiper motor cover and tailgate? A few other items are a nuisance to buy but also there are some parts similar on later vehicles ie the wiper switch is same as a Defender rear widow wiper switch but the prices are completely different
22. I heard contact is also good for that as you can trace onto the paper then cut it and peel the adhesive plastic off and use that as the template As for rubbing back: - get somebody else to do it (I would be useless as my paitience would wear out first) - thinking about it though I would guess trialling in an area where you would not expect idents as I would think knowing the number of layers of paint and colours would be useful. In this safe area could use a sanding machine to chop through and see how many coats you got
23. It amazes me the different vehicles that I have never heard of that turn up Only 152 built, RAF service so MV background so how many are left?
24. G'Day I was an OPCP for a Rapier regiment the moved on to fixing aircraft. In the Army though as our RAAF ADG's were storeman from memory. Anywat welcome, plenty of things need researching in here
