  1. Any chance of getting the Rolls back on display? As such a famous vehicle, and there's only two that I know of in the UK (RAFM's and Bovington's), would be nice to have it on display, i've never seen one before unfortunately.
  2. The re-enactment group i'm in visited this event last weekend, only four of us (five on Sunday when I went) but had a great time, fantastic location and plenty to see, and quite a few very nice post-WW2 vehicles. Anyway, here's my piccies Here's some of my pictures from Sunday http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/2613/displaytw5.jpg[/img] To start off with, a couple of our display - the union jack we have is very handy, means I could spot our display as soon as I turned up! http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/6730/display2yt1.jpg[/img] http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/7904/barbedwireiv6.jpg[/img] Marder III Ausf. 3. Gorgeous vehicles - what is the six wheeled Morris?
  4. Came across this on the W&P site http://www.warandpeaceshow.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=625 Is anyone doing this, and if so, do they happen to have a spare seat? Sounds like a good idea, would love to go on it if anyone fancies giving me a lift, i'm sure i'll be able to arrange some form of payment in the form of beer afterwards :-D
  5. Many thanks guys - have passed on the information, cheers.
  6. The Ford Lynx, is as far as I remember, a (Canadian?) copy of the Daimler Dingo scout car, similar but looks uglier http://mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks/greece/lynx.jpg
  7. Currently building a few military vehicle kits and going to mark them as being from the Leicestershire Regiment, in NW Europe 44-45 as part of the 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division. Aside from the Polar Bear marking of the 49th Div, does anyone know what other markings a vehicle of the regiment would have wore? Apparently there's supposed to be a square with one or two colours and a number (67 or 68 I think), but does anyone have a book etc that has a definitive answer? Another member of our group is finishing his jeep in Leics reg markings and another member may get a jeep and would like to do the same, and the square with the number is the bit that's got everyone stumped. Cheers, Rob
  8. Thanks for that John - saw you around but was busy almost non stop this weekend. I was on the site from 10am Friday, luckily a few others from the group turned up later on and we managed to get a tent up about twenty minutes before the rain started!
  9. Cheers - we'll be at War and Peace all week, four of us are going down on Tuesday sometime and we'll probably have the same sort of 'show and tell' display as pictured as during the week we'll be short on manpower so won't have time and enough bods to dig a trench etc, but either way we have plenty of British kit to have a look at, when it comes to British infantry kit, if a soldier wore/carried/was armed with it in NW Europe 44-45, we've got it!
  10. Here's my pics from today although was there since 10am Friday, probably one of the best railway events, feet still aching like mad from wearing ammo boots. Looking forward to seeing everyone elses pics too http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/9871/daimlerqi6.jpg[/img] Gary Bainbridge and co's Daimler Armoured Car Mk 2 http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/8864/display2ft3.jpg[/img] Our display http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/3521/displayve4.jpg[/img] Another pic of our display http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/9201/drjy3.jpg[/img] Royal Enfield despatch rider's bike http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/286/harleywlawr6.jpg[/img] Harley Davidson WLA http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/6615/jeephd9.jpg[/img] Early Jeep http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/5418/m8greyhoundtl7.jpg[/img] M8 Greyhound armoured car http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/3632/mebrensm2.jpg[/img] "I'll get that Focker!" http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/936/morrisjd4.jpg[/img] Lovely old (if not a bit rough) Morris Z van Bob's lovely 3 inch Mortar http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/5930/seahorsebi3.jpg[/img] I liked the divisional sign on the Dingo - anyone know what division this is? 11. Anyone here going to this? Should be a good weekend, always has been when i've been as a punter. I'll be there as one of the Leicestershire Regiment guys. Battle should be a good one, we get to blow up a Tiger tank! More info here http://www.gcrailway.co.uk/spevents/gala0607.htm As well as the Tiger tank and the resident 'Tigers', there's also going to be a Daimler Armoured Car mk 2, OT810 converted to Sd.Kfz 251 plus no doubt plenty of Dodges, Jeeps etc
  12. Very nice - there's an Albion just like yours at an airfield near me, in working order.
  13. The weekend just gone saw a ww2 weekend at Chiltern Open Air Museum, as a training event for the main event at COAM in May. I was there with my re-enactment group the Tommy Atkins Society, who portray the 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment in NW Europe 1943-45. Here's a few pics as a bit of a taster for the main event http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/7043/tabn7.jpg[/img] Our display http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/8718/carriermd3.jpg[/img] Universal Carrier mk 2 http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/6539/daimlervk1.jpg[/img] Daimler Armoured Car Mk 1 http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/402/damedu9.jpg[/img] Turret art on the Daimler http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/770/dingoja4.jpg[/img] Daimler Dingo Scout Car http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/5331/firefh4.jpg[/img] Keeping warm at night
  14. I wasn't there last year but will be this year with my re-enactment group (Leicestershire Regiment). Was there the weekend just gone for the training event which a few groups came to, the 43rd Recce guys had their new Daimler armoured car, a dingo, universal carrier, as well as a few motorbikes and jeeps as well as jeeps with other groups out and about. Will upload the photos in a bit in the meetings log section.
  15. Hey all, my re-enactment group (http://www.tommyatkins.org) who portray the Leicestershire Regiment, are currently looking for a British WW2 vehicle or two to support us at events, ideally something like a 3 tonner. We'll be attending the War and Peace show, so if anyone owns a ww2 british vehicle and is interested in supporting us, pitching up with us etc, then let me know. It'll also mean free entry for you as we'll be in the living history area, plus I imagine our chef wouldn't mind one or two extra mouths to feed! Cheers, Rob
  16. Was watching Churchill : The Hollywood Years last night, and liked the look of the jacket Churchill/Christian Slater was wearing. Anyone know what sort he wears in the film? Looks like an M1941 jacket, but I know next to nothing about US kit. Not having much luck finding a screenshot on the web either. Thanks for any help, Rob
  17. Paint schemes would be same as normal RAF vehicles, during wartime it would most likely be in a green colour. I've got, somewhere, a list of colour schemes for the RAF during the war, i'll have a dig around for you. Which museum is this, by the way?
  18. There was one in CMV a month or two back in bomb disposal markings, will have a look at the latest issue and see if it's still there
  19. If anyone fancies a 1944-5 British soldier as a passenger at Beltring, Victory show, or any other events where my group will be at, i'd be more than happy to olige, and could supply a few more troops if there's an empty Bedford or half track!
  20. For anyone interested in this event (which is looking to be really good - the Tiger tank lookalike on the T34 chassis will be there), forms are being sent out, so if anyone interested could contact me i'd be happy to pass you along to one of the event organisers. Cheers, Rob
  21. Me and about twenty others do the Leicestershire Regiment as it was in NW Europe 44-45 - this year in August a fair few of us hope to go over to Normandy for a few days. Roughly half sight seeing and the other half in our kit visiting memorials and patrolling through the fields, bocage etc that those brave guys back in '44 did
  22. Whoops forgot to mention! The Victory Show is near the village of Cosby just south of Leicester, so a good central location
  23. My plans; Get my re-enacting gear together (British Infantry, Leicestershire Regiment, NW Europe 1944-45) Get my BSA M20 (finally, my own mv!), restore it, get a trailer for it and take it to as many re-enacting events with me as possible Make a fair amount of cash and spend the rest of the year until September travelling the country and doing things i've always wanted to do until I go to Uni
  24. Hey Colin, good to see you on here as well - looking forward to any pics of the M20 when it's spruced up, it'll keep me going when i'm slaving away on mine when I pick it up!
  25. Not much military (finally got a copy of 'Quadrophenia' on DVD :-D) and a quite nice Mod/RAF target keyring - also got the DVD of 'Churchill - the Hollywood years' which i've never seen before (wasn't someone here in that driving the Dodge Command Car?). Also got a fair amount of money to go towards the BSA M20 fund, which I found out yesterday that i'll definitely be getting and the current owner is more than happy to look after it till i've got the money :-D Roll on 2007!
