  1. Guys, need to replenish my brake fluid for the first time. The manuals state Fluid Brake Hydraulic No3. What's the equivalent modern version? Thanks Richard.
  2. Thanks for the kind comments guys. It ws a great trip, my second but already looking forward to the next one. Dont think you could ever get bored of taking an MV over there.
  3. Hi guys, bit of a delayed post due to personal problems, but my MW made it to Normandy last June following its purchase and work carried out at the beginning of June 2011. Most of the work was cosmetic, cab and seat Canvas were replaced, passenger windscreen glass, handbrake gator, data plates restored, but also the complete wiring loom, both manifolds and Carb to the correct wartime set up and two rear tyres and new exhaust. Here it is pictured on Gold Beach with the Jeeps that we went with and also a nice "Then and Now" shot taken at Villers Bocage. All the way there and back and only a blown headlamp bulb to report. Richard.

  6. Guys, Thanks for all the feed back. Some great tips there Rattlesnake. We have already planned a day trip to Hill 112 and Villers Bocage on Day two so should be good. Thanks for the photos of the campsite Smithy and tip re the airfield. Big Ray, we will be in the Amercian sector from 5th onwards. Keep an eye out for us.....4 Jeeps and an RAF Bedford MW. Hopefully there will be a good turnout of vehicles there this year. Quite dissapointing in 2010. Cheers Richard
  7. Thanks all for the feedback. Big Ray....just ordered the book from Amazon. Where abouts are you staying? We are just outside Bayeux at a camp site in Martragny from the 3rd to the 5th then we move up to Coalville Sur Mer.
  8. Hi Guys, The first two days of our week in Normandy will be spent in the British sector. After docking, we will head for Pegasus and then onto the Merville battery, then after that along the coast road taking in Sword and Juno beaches, whilst heading towards our campsite just east of Bayeux. My quesion is, does anyone have any suggestions for places to visit along or near that route? Thanks Richard
  9. Brilliant, thanks guys. If only everything was that simple..... Cheers Richard
  10. Guys, Can anyone recommend a product they have used to Waterproof a WW2 Canvas tent? Mines never been done and dont want to risk a week in Normandy without doing it. Thanks Richard
  11. Yep...wrong mixture. Could just be a setting on your Carb? Nothing to do with the position of the exhaust.
  12. Thanks Richard, I will drain what I have put in and see what Morris do in that weight.
  13. Hi guys, Completed an Oil change on my Bedford MW this weekend and want to check something regarding the Gearbox oil. I had some Morris API GL4 80W/90 that I use in the jeep but I noticed the oil I drained out was a lot thicker. It's actually SAE140 that the previous owner has used. The original spec calls for C600 whatever that is? Am I ok with the 80w/90? Thanks Richard
  14. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. So if i go with the Fertlizer option, do i just submerge it in a bag and is it best to be dry, damp or wet? How long do you rekon until the rust is so bad it leaves pitting after being cleaned? Thanks Richard
  15. Yes i know this will sound like a very strange question, but i have some re-manufactured GS body brackets in steel that i would like to have the "pitted" look so it matches the rest of the original body fittings. Whats the quickest way to get that rust pitted, aged look? Richard
  16. Hi guys, I have just replaced the silencer of the exhaust on my MW. The whole set up is incorrect and it finishes short of the rear axle instead of extending to near the rear of the body as i believe it should, so i want to get one made up to the correct pattern. Does anyone have any drawings they could supply me that shows an original set up, size, bends etc? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Richard
  17. Thanks for the reply Rosie. No, we will be very quiet, i was just nervious there may be a locked gate of something? 30 - 40 mins, blimey, thought it was closer then that?? Will need to be off site by 5.30 then................
  18. A small group of us are attending the show for the first time, then we are off to Normandy on the Sunday morning. I assume there will be no issues getting off the site early? I think our ferry sails at 7am? Does anyone know how long it takes to get to the port from the show ground? Cheers Richard
  19. Tomas, Very impressive work, well done! I'm interested in the data plate thats at the top of your instrument panel (near the windscreen). I too have one of these plates, and seen another today, both of which are on water Tanker MW's like yours, so wondering if this particular data plate is a MWC thing only? Does you plate have any information left on it? Cheers Richard By armyspecial at 2012-04-19
  20. Just to finish this thread off, here is the correct Military assembly i have obtained and restored, now ready to be installed. It seems that the Intake Manifolds and Carb's are available.....the Exhaust Manifold....now thats a different story!! By armyspecial at 2012-04-11
  21. The new "correct" Manifold and Carb assembly restored and ready to go on this coming Saturday. By armyspecial at 2012-04-11 By armyspecial at 2012-04-11
