  1. Thanks for the comments guys...always appreciated. Fayo, nothing wrong with the gas pipe, its just got the wrong radius bends. Looks fine until you stand it next to another MW with the correct hoops, then it looks too high and square. The hoops have been made by a previous owner to suit the NOS canvas, which is not a correct MW one. It serves the purpose for now and looks ok, but i will get it sorted at some point. Thanks John for the info on that bracket. Funny you should suggest it being for the Dipstick. When i went to Normandy last year, i ended up keeping the Dipstick on the floor behind the drivers seat for ease of use, so maybe that IS what that bracket is for?? Although, if that had been the intended purpose, surely they would have added 2 brackets as per the holder on the passenger side? I could really do with the following if anyone can help. 1. Position of Fire Extinguisher Bracket. 2. Position of starting handle on Canvas box. 3. Photo of correct Jack and handle. Many thanks Richard
  2. Trying to get in touch with Derek Scaysbrook (Ex MVT Area Sec East Midlands). He contacted me a few months back and said he had some information on my Bedford MW as he restored it. I have sent him a few emails since but he's not responded and i'm keen to get in contact with him again. Can anyone help please? Thanks Richard
  3. Finally fitted my shovel holder and 43 dated shovel, plus the Butler BO lights i bought a couple of weeks ago. Also added a few RAF bits and pieces to liven up the cab a little. Really pleased how my MW looks and drives now. Last jobs really are to find or make the water can holder and also to sort out the rear hoops as mine are made from gas pipe. Does anyone know what the bracket is to the right of the shovel??
  4. Go MW mate. Had mine for a year and a half now and i love it!!. Great to drive, as economical as a Jeep, reliable and parts have so far been easy to obtain. Get a later one with a Cab, then its a great all weather vehicle. Richard
  5. John, How is the other end of the starting handle secured? Thanks Richard
  6. Thanks for the photo's Danny.....gives me something to go on. Cheers Richard
  7. My Jeep has the front plate number stenciled white onto OD. Blends in nicely and has never been questioned by law in 17 years of ownership. Richard
  8. Hi guys, I need to replace the missing shovel holder on my MW. Does anyone have any photos and or measurements to assist me in making one please? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Richard
  9. Thanks Wally, that answer's my question. I will give John Morter a ring...hopefully he has some.
  10. Hi Guys, Had a bit of frothing from the Rad Cap on the way home from W&P and Sunday. I appreciate the fact that it was a hot day and a 3 1/2 hour non stop trip, but did notice when i removed the cap that the previous owner had used some silicone sealer!! I assume there is supposed to be a gasker of some sort to form a seal in there?
  11. Martin, Depending on what Carb you use you may find you need to change your intake manifold as the outlet will be 90 degree's out. My MW had a Zenith that i changed out to a Wartime spec Solex and had to change exhaust and intake manifolds as well. Not really sure you will see much of a saving if you do change? Richard
  12. It's difficult to say Richard if it did have a crease or not? Certainly their seems to be a centre line but i assumed it could have been found folded in two and was straightened?? Anyway, i'm sure if anyone needs an early grill badge it will look the part? Cheers Richard
  13. Recent metal detecting find, measures approx 73mm in diameter. Is this an early Bedford MW grill badge? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  14. Guys, Got chatting to a to a gentleman at Duxford who had an MW (Reg No USK 858 (or 856). Think his name was Chris. I forgot to take his details before i left the show and need to contact him. Can anyone help please? Thanks Richard
  15. I think the important thing to ascertain here to help Glen diagnose the issue is a) Would a blocked Oil filter cause the engine to get extremely hot but not boil over and b) Would the engine getting extremely hot cause other issues, like the Condenser failing and maybe fuel evaporation? An important thing to note here is that it starts and idles perfectly with no issues (although still gets very hot). The heat is unbearable! I was only in the cab for 5-10 mins at a time. I cant imagine what it will be like in the height of summer!! Richard
  16. Hi guys, Can anyone give me the correct size (Length and Width) of the brown leather door check straps on a Bedford MW. I have one NOS original but an an old seat belt part making up its pair. I have found what i think to be the correct one on the net, but don't have my MW nearby to check the size! Hope someone can help. Thanks Richard
  17. Well after all that the problem (or problems) were very simple ones!! The left hand side had a bad bulb (element looked fine but it failed when tested. The right hand side had a bad bulb holder. The spring that pushes the contact in the bulb holder onto the contact on the bulb was weak and not pushing it up far enough. A small order to Auto electrical supplies and i should be sorted. Thanks all for your input. Cheers Richard
  18. Hello again John, Thats really interesting but doesnt answer why the lights have been ok until now, unless a fault occurs on the feed in the loom between the fuse box and the lighting juncion box. I cant see it but you never know i suppose? Could just be a loose wire somewhere, on the switch itself maybe?? It was quite a struggle getting the panel wires in (thick loom and not a lot of room) so maybe i didnt nip the main light wiring up as tight as i should have done? I will hopefully get to the bottom of it this weekend and post here what i find. Thanks Richard
  19. Finally found that elusive Radiator badge.
  20. Nor am i Trevor....lol. Ok, thats great...should find my way now. I will post how i get on, on Monday. Thanks all for your replys. Cheers Richard
  21. Thanks both. Its both that are effected. They have been perfect up to now. Mine being a later MW does not have the dip option, and the wires that go to the blackout switch on the panel are just joined on mine, again because its a later model. I'm happy about the switch position. So on my tester, what should i be setting it at in order to check the live feed? Thanks Richard
  22. Hi all, Discovered last night that the headlights on my MW have stopped working. Bulbs seem ok and all other electrics are fine? I re-wired the whole vehicle with an Autosparkes loom last summer. I have a tester but am no expert when it comes to automotive electrics. I used it to do continuity testing when i fitted the loom, but what settings do i need for testing if I'm getting a feed to the headlights? Can anyone advise. Also, anyone have any idea where i should look first? Thanks Richard
  23. Thanks and i appreciate the offer but my MW has Butlers so the Lucas covers would not fit i believe? If you get any leads for a pair it would be appreciated. Lovely truck....i will come and introduce myself if i see you at one of the shows this year. Cheers Richard
  24. I still need a pair of Butler BO lights...one would be a good start
