  1. Thanks Rippo, I spoke to John and he has them in stock at £65.00 which seems very reasonable. There is an original on ebay at the moment, but think i will go for the modern lookalike. Does anyone you know do the replacement pipes for it or is it just a question of making them up? Any idea of sizes, and are they steel or Copper....questions, questions......:-\ Cheers Richard
  2. Hi Guys, Can someone advise me on the dimensions for the correct AC Oil Filter used in a Bedford MW. Also, the type reference would be good. Thanks Richard
  3. Thanks Rippo. Sparky.....what product did you use?
  4. Thanks for the photos Rippo. I'm 100% happy that the two box's were fitted and used, although i'm reluctant to chop my Loom for no reason, other then cosmetic, so will probably fit the second and run the loom through it without cutting and conneting it....clever eh? :cool2: Paul, only too pleased that my posts are helping you as well. Having only been a Jeep owner before, its been a steep learning curve owning a British vehicle as there seems to be very little knowledge (and spares) about/fpr them on the Nett. Just as well we have the resident experts like Rippo to help us out. Cant wait for the show season to start....i'm dying to get her out on the road, expecially now she is an "improved" version from when i bought her. Cheers Richard
  5. Rippo, Any luck with the scan of the Choking plate? I'm going to try and print a couple of labels of both plates (as i work at a Label Printers) and stick them onto my worn blanks. Will probably look crap, but worth a try. Ideally i need someone that makes "one off" transfers. Cheers Richard
  6. Hi Rippo, Think your correct re the second box, for the single driving lamp. I ordered a Lucas junction box from vintage supplies as it looked exactly the correct style and size. The fixing holes line up exactly with the holes on my MW, both sides!! Can you confirm where the live feed would come from for the junction box on the passenger side? Cheers Richard
  7. The side light is fed from the main loom on both sides so the second box must be a later addition to feed a non standard item? As I said, the 1940 diagram only shows one box and for the life of me I cannot see any reason to have two?
  8. Strange thing is there seems to be no reason for the second Junction box on the passenger side? Only one is shown on the wiring diagrams, yet there are identical holes each side on mine which seems to indicate two boxes, like yours? The main loom branches off at the left headlight, and continues across the grill to the drivers side Junction box, so no idea why you would have the second box, unless of course you were not using an original pattern wiring loom? Good thing is that all of the original loom clips are still present which allows you to follow the original cable route. Richard
  9. Rippo, Perfect.....thanks. New Loom is in position and started the connections. Cheers Richard
  10. Rippo, Perfect.....thanks. New Loom is in position and started the connections. Cheers Richard
  11. Guys, Urgently need to know the position of the junction box that connects the main wiring loom to the loom for the front lights? It's on the wiring diagrams but not fitted to my MW. In the middle of a re wire so quick response would be very appreciated. Thanks Richard
  12. NOS Seat Bases, found at Stonleigh and filled by John Worthing. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  13. Nobody have any views on this??
  14. I'm trying to find a ledgible Choke control plate to finish off my Bedford Instrument panel. My original is blank so assume the details were painted not pressed on? I did read on this forum somewhere that someone was making repro's? Whilst on the subject of Data plates, what information went on the plate attached to the steering column? Thanks Richard
  15. Been thinking about the best way of re-connecting the wires on the instrument panel and am thinking about using a short piece of wire on each terminal with a bullet connector, then a connector on the cable from the loom. Then, instead of trying to get to the small slotted screws of the connectors, its just a case of pushing the bullet connectors together. Anyone else done it this way or does anyone see a problem with this? Thanks Richard
  16. The old wiring loom being removed. I have never seen so many wires...... Most of the old loom was in a very bad way. A fire hazard if ever there was one!!
  17. Data plate information uncovered. Maybe a rebuild plate??
  18. After removing the instrument panel on my MW as part of removing the old wiring i decided to have a rub on a very corroded data plate that was positioned on the top of the panel near the drivers side window. I was really surprised to see letters emerging, as the plate was really bad. Anyway, found the following. Its not very clear in the photos, buy reads CHASSIS 15CWT 4X2 MW, then the second line starts M.CO. Thats all i can save i think? Do you think its a rebuild plate, M.CO being the company that carried out the rebuild? Any info very much appreciated. Thanks Richard
  19. John, I will see what mines like on Saturday, but the 1940 wiring diagram lists all the Earths as follows; Headlamps Generator to LH Side Member Starter to Engine Rear Support Controller to footwell top panel Rear lights Richard
  20. Hi John, I have two wiring diagrams one dated Nov 1940 and the other July 1942. Interestingly, the early diagram does not show wiring for the Diff light whereas the 1942 diagram does. My loom does not have it and also has the wires for the dimmer switch which I do not have, so been made from an early diagram. I will be able to get some photos of the old loom in situ at the weekend before I remove it, but according to both diagrams, the live and natural from the battery go to the starter. The N feed earths on the rear engine support. The problem with the wiring in my MW is that the old loom has been left in place, and in areas cut off and new wiring added, so there is twice as many wires then there should be. A real mess. What is still in use of the original loom is in such a poor state, I rekon it could burn at any time. Its that bad that I probably won't use it until the wiring is replaced. Anyway, will get you some picks on Saturday. Is the junction box you pictured fitted next to the diff switch on the rear cross member? Cheers Richard
  21. I like "Posh"....we still have Salt and Pepper out every dinnertime Thanks for you help....much appreciated. Richard
  22. How does this one look to you? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIGITAL-AUTOMOTIVE-MULTIMETER-car-engine-analyser-CE-/350244544293?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item518c339f25
  23. Hi Pete, Thats great, thanks. Spent a good 3 hours this weekend with the loom on the dining room table, and using a 1940 wiring diagram as a reference i labeled up every wire end with where it goes and checked that both ends agree with the diagram. This will help me when i do it, and i'm also happier as i understand it more now. Only issues are that the loom only has provision for a single Tail and stop light, as the original, so i will need to take a feed to the other side of the body for a second rear light, and there is no provision for the indicator flashers that i have fitted in the cab, but i will just leave the wiring to them in situ, then renew once the loom is in. Not used a meter before, will it be obvious what setting to have it on? Thanks Richard
  24. Pete, Thanks for that, really helpful stuff there. It's on a Bedford MW so the dash wiring should be a bit easier. One question, if I get a meter and do a test, exactly where am I running wires from to test the full circuit? Cheers Richard
  25. Hi guys, About to embark on the task of re-wiring my Bedford MWD and wondered if anyone out their has done this, and can offer any do/don'ts and tips? Can't decide whether to strip out all the old wiring first, or change wire for wire? I have a wiring diagram and the new loom has been made up to the same colour code. Also, where is the best place to start? Engine bay, instrument panel or rear end? Anything else i should be aware of? Any help very much appreciated. Thanks Richard
