  2. These are the people to ask, http://canalrivertrust.org.uk/about-us
  3. Bit of searching &.. Amphibious vehicle have to comply with the Boat Safety Certificate scheme which is needed for use on inland waters.
  4. We could not get PLI for our show re Taking Vehicle into water.. Insurance company said NO..
  5. Heard of Libel?? You couldn't be further from the truth, the show is no threat to ours in location or date & I was invited down by Tim Hawkes who actually had some involvement in our show..
  6. Being a show organiser of a major show I know the pitfalls, learn by your mistakes, we have over the last 7 years.. as said hope something positive comes out of this..
  7. Me & you must be watching different videos.. there was no Quick about it.. Neil had already Hit the wall when the Marshal jumped in... There was approx 27 seconds form when Neil started moving backward to when he hit the wall, that's when the marshal jumped in, the public should of been moved as soon as the OT started moving backwards.. It's lucky the OT got stuck on the wall, can you imagine what would of happened if it had climbed it at that speed..
  8. Disagree with that, not 100% down to driver/crew. Risk Assessment seems to be lacking, inadequate crowd control/Poor Marshaling.. Who decided that the Crew was qualified to take to the water? Who decided & inspected the Vehicle to decide that it was fit for purposes.. (Taking to the water... ) I know Neil very well & he is a good friend, what I'm about to say is in no way meant as an insult. Neil is a rather well built chap & does not find it easy getting in & out of the OT, if the OT had taken on water & gone under then there was NO way Neil would of been able to get out.. Again.. Risk Assessment.. This should be a wake up call for ALL Show Organisers. We have water available to us at the Bunker Bash, we decided in the early days of the show that we would never use it after a thorougher Risk Assessment coupled with the fact that our Insurance Company said that they would never cover us on our PLI.. Surprised that the show got cover for vehicles taking to the water... I'm positive that the owners Standard Policies don't cover this. There are Dozens of other comments re the lack of/Poor Marshaling on Facebook & on Youtube from people that were there.. Lets hope people learn from this & turn a bad incident into something positive..

Agree.. Cosrec we are continually receiving complaints about your attitude on the forum, as stated in post #44 if you have nothing useful to add then please don't bother posting at all. Please STOP baiting the members. We are all here with common interests, Restoration of Military Vehicles/Equipment, Preserving History & Keeping alive the memories of those that made the ultimate sacrifice. If you decide not to take note then you leave us no alternative than to reconsider your membership of the forum. If you would like to discuss this then please PM any one of the HMVF Team. Thank You

The way some people on here were describing what would be left I'm very surprised to see so much of it...
  13. Well said, my point exactly.. if a marshal can't handle a bunch of kids.. even the big kids then it's not a job for them. I appreciate most marshals are volunteers but that's no excuse.. This is not a pop at the show.. just the poor Marshaling I've seen in the videos..
  14. Then you don't go ahead with an event until they comply.. As a show organiser I know how the public can behave, you just have to be really firm with them.. simple..
  15. Sorry but the Marshaling has got to be questioned..

A German World War II bomber has been raised from the bottom of the English Channel. The Dornier 17 aircraft was shot down off the Kent coast more than 70 years ago during the Battle of Britain. Believed to be the only intact example of its kind in the world, it has laid in 50ft (15m) of water on the Goodwin Sands. Attempts by the RAF Museum to salvage the relic have been hit by strong winds over the last few weeks. The BBC's Nick Higham on board the salvage barge said the weather conditions for the hour-long operation were "near perfect" on Monday evening. The salvage almost had to be postponed again when the rope from one of the salvage barge's four anchors got wrapped around its propeller, but the crew were able to free it in time to take advantage of the helpful tidal conditions, our correspondent said. The aircraft will now be restored at a site in Shropshire before eventually going on display at the RAF Museum in Hendon, north London. Museum spokesman Ajay Srivastava said: "It has been lifted and is now safely on the barge and in one piece. "The operation has been an absolute success, the aircraft looks great and I believe it will be towed into port tomorrow morning."
  18. Get about a dozen of them everyday for last couple of years... as well as email from all the banks..
  19. What's the point of having a walker if he doesn't keep an eye on what's going on around him.. the kid coming in from the right reminds me of the argument that Ian2b got in at W&P with a parent, a kid tried to stick his arm in the track of Mark Harts 432 as it passed by, Ian grabbed him & pulled him out the way saving his arm.. You need a lot more marshalls when moving big kit like this about..
  20. Lucky he didn't make it up the bank then  Good to see everyone survived
