  1. agree for sure...but seen too many of their tricks played out..I agree that you can get some good but i prefer now to buy direct...if you can...plus its too far from Hampshire...
  2. yes i would like to get me a spartan at some stage...maybe next year if business is good...
  3. same for the b81 and she does even less to the gallon as the diesel is only partially burnt and provides little or no power to the stroke and so all you are doing is reducing the petrol mix in the engine and producing a lot of smoke....the b81 will run on paraffin mix and other mixes i am told...but petrol engines just dont like diesel, thats it...and problems arise if you try,....
  4. and with no engines and with fooked bodywork....once you check a vehicle at withams make sure you photograph it and the engine for evidence...can honestly say I have never bought anything that is any good...sure loads have just not me...
  5. I have had a very enlightening letter, email from the DVLA...I think it clarifies a great deal. if you use your vehicle for display purposes, and it is for this purpose alone it is unlikely to need an MOT or plating if it is a heavy goods vehicle etc...but it goes on to say a good deal more... However I STILL BELIEVE WE SHOULD GET mot'S FOR OUR OWN PEACE OF MIND. If anyone wants to see the letter please PM me...
  6. lmg (bren) was not great as a machine gun due to its cartridge feed system...the belt fed GPMG is one of the best 7.62 machine guns in the world, providing excellent spread of fire with high fire rates and reliable operation in all types of weather conditions....and changing a hot barrel is easy peasey...I used to love being a GPMG gunner when they let me have a play with it...I accidentally killed a sheep on breckons live firing ranges once...ruined our plattoon live firing day,
  7. the cvrt also uses its speed as a form of protection, shoot and run, and it is faster than most anything else on the battle field, or at least anything with tracks...plus the newer models have been up armoured with more modern type armour, as have the 432's...(and I know the 432 is steel) The fact is nothing is immune from a bomb...no matter how big or strong, there will always be a bomb that can take it out...targeted ied's can just about do for anything and anyone...and if your intent is to cause as much injury and harm as possible because you are a peace loving religious group then the tools exist to allow them to do that...sad but so very true...
  8. okay, well perhaps it was my hgv test then who knows but i am not arguing with them...
  9. You all know i took my tracked vehicle test the other week. Well I duly sent in my papers and had my licence back. okay great.. Anyway whilst checking the details I notice that on my entitlement it is saying that i have the entitlement from a date in 1977. So I ring up the DVLA..telling them there must be something wrong...no sir you have had to entitlement since 1977, so i did not need the test, no sir you did not... oops who's a silly boy then...apparently all of those funny little numbers for tractors and road rollers and the like, I have already received those entitlements when I passed my bike and car driving tests in 1977....ah well at least I have done a refressher course and updated test...ho hum? Moral is check your licence and if you did your test years ago you may already have more than you think... doing my HGV C1+E in october...will then have all the tests except the PSV test and I have now just become the proud owner, by default of three single deck buses...one already sold, dennis, one I intend to keep the other is going for scrap....
  10. yes I have a trail...will let you know in a few weeks...i will be back out there likely in September...late..
  11. My two star 660 and two Urals 375d's have arrived...just got to tidy them up a bit and they will be up for sale although think the two stars are gone already...will get four more next month...
  12. thanks for the help guys, they just look really bad...not delaminted yet so will run her for a while longer...need more spare wheels though i guess...
  13. I missed this...i would have preferred this to the berkshire show,...damn sorry chris,. keep me informed of any future events...got to help our lads for sure...
  14. Hi No I dont know the Czech companies very well yet...am working on it...and to be honest just buiying from other dealers isnt going to be my game...you can all do that yourselves. i am trying to get hold of reliable sources of direct spares......yes Grzegorz spent a good deal of time with us, infact all the time I was out there...he is a very helpful guy...and very honest and trustworthy...
  15. you are spot on...they are starting to cream us so I am bypassing them where I can, and i have a good angle right now...will be sorted end of august and i hope to have a lot of interesting vehicles at realistic prices...
  16. I was there for just one day so didnt see any of the late night stuff. Vehicles moving about is always a problem and whilst having a marshal is an idea, I do believe that the public should be made plainly aware of the dangers and enforce where possible the use of safe paths rather than walking in the middle of the roadways...as they always do...people should be held responsible for their children...and themselves... If you take on more and more responsibility for the movemnt of the vehicles , ie waving red flags in front of every vehicle that moves you become ever more responsible for any idiot that decides to take his life by getting in front of a tank...driving carefully and responsibly at 5-10 mph should be enough... As to late night disco's all I can say is spoil sports. Buy some ear protectors...and lets have an agreement that discos do tone down the music after midnight and at 2 and at 4 etc...we are all getting a bit old but dont dampen down the spirit of the young uns....its too easy to do and too sensible...its a week of fun, I know some need their sleep but there are ways to do that and allow others to have their fun too..and certainly a dance party without loud music is like a tank without an engine.... One important thing though, if anyone has a late night disco, it must be open doors..ie anyone can attend...and if its free beer same applies..
  17. dont know with the btr 60 but bmp's around 15k plus and t 55 similar but going up fast...and brdm2's around 18-20k...al depending upon condition...add a 3 k for delivery to UK or thereabouts...can get one if you want one...not got any btr 60 though...
  18. only one monster truck...and did not se any freelanders, scammels fodens aec, 101's another 432 and mine and a few other military stuff...show was a bit feeble though... they had a flat arean for ofraod vehicles...seemed a bit pointless...would have been better with a hill or something..and a water splash...but not a lot of though in it if you ask me and they kept on and on about public safety and not doing this and not doing that...crikey it was annoying, but i did get to crush some cars and the monster truck was not bad at all...very impressive.. I had a great two days...
  19. took the 432 to reading today...for the 4x 4 show...two of the road wheels look as if they are about to loose their rubber...can i change the wheels with a bottle jack...what happens if they let go whilst I am driving her on the road...I have a 30 mile journey back home...should I risk it or change them before I go back...
  20. yep got to agree with that, 80 odd million fought to save europe from tyranny. The result, we cant even ride our bikes on the pavement, or use plastic bags for our shopping in wales, or travel at the same speed on our roads as those that supposedly lost the war...And thats not a dig at anyone other than our government..
  21. stollys are great but swimming them is scary...i have mine all ready to go but still cant bring myself to dip her toe...shes just a bit too dainty to get her skirts wet...she will do one day, AND SHE WILL HAVE FLOATATION BAGS ALL OVER HER JUST IN CASE...
  22. reply they are in the 10-15k range depending upon condition...I will be bringing one back with a radar unit sometime this year, although at this rate maybe next year...have to sell my gaz 69 commanders car and my two urals and star 660's first...well i might do anyway...will have a lot of stock soon...
  23. jet ski's are easier faster and less trouble...but if I could and I had the time I would love an old mtb...
  24. okay, what was the age of your truck,...I have two urals 83 and 84 and want to get them tested. how on earth do I avoid the tacho being fitted...they will never be down rated as their basic weight is over 7.5 tons...
