nice combination Simon, hopefully I will see it when i come to collect the tyre...
-
Paul,
The Saracen tyre is a runflat, hence the rubber band is a bead spacer to keep the beads on the rim in the case of a deflation, allowing you to get to a place of safety before changing the wheel. You will not need it on the Stalwart, for one reason, it may not pinch between the tyre beads on your new tyres, owing to the fact they will be thinner beads. another point, which I have doubts on is that the alloy wheels from the Saracen (which are probably Saladin 10 inch rims), may not be as wide as the Stalwart ones, which are wider tyres from Saracen/Saladin.
As AM says, you will need a gaitor for your new tyres.
Yes I must admit i know that the tyres are bigger on the stolly ..am pretty sure that the alloy wheels were made for the stolly only, so they must be stolly wheels thats my assumption..but when I have the other one off i will check..but I am not going to insert the run flat beads

okay I think, doing my stolly, change the bar grips for ural super aggressive tyres for its off roading fun...easy job split rims one off the other on...I have a set of old wheels fitted with saracen tyres so I though I would use them..and yes they are the ally wheels not the steel saracen wheels...before we get side tracked...anyway doing the first wheel all okay even though the very last nut decides not to come free so we have to cut it off...anyone got a wheel bolt for them...the ones that hold the rims together...
anyway, there is a rubber protective band inside the saracen tyre, a rubber pad that goes inside the tyre, between the inner tube and the wheel...anyone got any ideas how to fit these back into the wheel, and or if they are needed..I assume they are to keep the inner tyre stable but ?
Anyway I don't remember them being on the stalwart wheels when I had to change the inner tube on one of them...but I may be wrong, I just remember it being actually really easy but with this rubber pad/band inside it is a real job and a half...
I will take a stolly wheel off tomorrow and see if that is the same...

for me only working in good condition, I have enough projects...
Yes the nubian that is it....with the B81...now I can go searching thanks Richard...would love to put one of my B81's into something with an auto...bet the fuel consumption will be hilarious...
-
Richard were they automatic, i bought an auto gearbox from a b80 for fitting to my stalwart but it isnt going to fit the transfer box so for now it will have to wait until i find another application...
anyway if it was in the F12 perhaps i can find a bit of information about the gearbox by researching the f12.
-
they are all being converted and used as stag/hen night, party transport and things, i would love a nice dennis or similar, say 80's or 90's era..
-
about right crane up, engine bay open big tub of fluids ready.....big red box of spanners and a bunch of demented owners wondering how to get that screwdriver they just dropped... because they didn't put a load of cloths in the engine bay when they were working on her...
typical stolly fact of life...
-
we all know it happens and we see it and yet the police get more and more indignant about being good at their jobs....for fear of saying something that gets the post shut down again, the police have a tough job, but they seem unable to manage that job...
-
where do i send my cv?
you can pm me on here....
-
that is sweet and very professional...I could do with something like that, but i dont have someone looking after my toys like that yet...
will do sooner or later I SUPPOSE...
-
ooh I will try to make this with a ural and a star 266...would be a fun day I expect...wonder if they would let the ural have a go on their off road course...I am only 15 minutes away
-
dennis fire engine, what a machine...especially those rounded off ones fantastic...
-
thats one of its future tasks....just to keep the old girl running of course...
-
not that bothered about fuel consumption, look at my other toys to see why, anyway you wont be able to buy petrol in 20 years...so lets just enjoy...she wont be doing many miles but she will be squirting water...
-
the second picture of the m113 shows another tank in the trees, not the same M41 as the first picture...but amazing after all these years they are still there...and appearing to be in relatively good order, are they memorials or something...
-
Has any got an electronic copy of a Mk 2 Stalwart lubrication chart that I could take a copy of.
Thanks
Stuart
Dont think there is a single chart for it...will take a look tomorrow but I dont have one on soft file, if I can find one in the manuals I will try to scan it and send it...
-
yep only 1295 miles and with all hoses and gear excluding firemans gear plus ladders and petrol cans etc etc...complete with blues and twos...will be fun..
-
it will be my little silly toy, will go about pumping water with it for a laugh...
some very odd bidding going on at withams though....
-
think they are asking nigh on 1500 for them now...
-
I own Marios old Foden, she has 340bhp and Fuller Gearbox, Pulls like a train.
Oh No you don't, its mine now, well once we sort the gearbox and I have paid you for it, it is...
My plan for the old girl is to fit an auto box like the S26 drops, a monster winch, already to go on and maybe a HIAB...something like a 7 or 8 ton jobbie, but first its the gearbox...I am getting lazy in my old age...
I do think the FODEN drops though is the coolest truck on the scene right now. (even though I am now the proud owner of a scammel DROPS...ooh will collect next week...am excited) Likely I will use my new foden to drive up to Sammys at A&S who is repairing my two stalwarts...
-
yes they seem a good price, mine is more but its already running and registered. So I am happy with that...
where do you fit the winch...is there a standard fitting for it....is it a powerful beastie..
-
is that Canadian dollars...
-
Well it looks like i have sold my hydraulic devon manufactured scottrac/argocat hybrid...replaced with a zil 131 with rear HIAB...looking forward to getting this home and using the old girl...

We are "toying" with the idea of one, we have been looking to see what use we have for that system.
I know someone has the improved version and I know someone else was converting an MMLC to a wrecker, but are there any MMLC out there at the minute?
Anyone know what a complete running to tidy one is worth on the UK market and what do the flatracks go for.
Any comments about these vehicles is welcome.
Robin
will let you know when I collect mine...
The Search begins.. but where to look ?
in I may be stupid, but......

Reo's are lovely trucks, but I would not let people put you off what you want to buy. Most people on here know everything you could ever want to know about the trucks and will give you good sound advice. My thoughts are that the M54 is still a useful truck today, there cannot be that much wrong with it...I have an M62 and an M817 (not played with that yet) but they dont really seem to have much wrong mechanically it usually the age old, lack of use thing that they really dont like,...
if you listed to the rumours no one in their right mind would buy a stalwart, but people do...actually now I mention in I guess we are not in our right mind...oh well
go buy and enjoy, there are a lot of trucks out there for sale..
