  1. My experience of the police is that they know better than that but some have become so focused upon the criminal drivers that they have forgotten what is the real issue...i am using speed as just an example because we all know the issue but there are many other ones i could sue..

  2. Honest...hmm now there's one of the most misused words in the English Language.

thieves spongers and general toe rags, crikey will be difficult not to group everyone into one of those categories...

we have over intrusive law into the general public's lives so much so that the crime that actually bothers the public is sidelined, although much of the public today is increasingly belligerent and anti establishment, hence my statement anarchy is coming...

We know the speeding issue, its to save our lives. We generally don't want it and there is clear evidence that speeding is NOT the trouble, but still millions of resources are poured into making roads more dangerous to slow us down or installing speed cameras...

Its all very cynical and hypocritical...but the UK is being taken over...and no amount of laws will change that..anyone know of a policeman doing a good deed recently or interacting with the Public in a positive way...I do not...but it is not the Policemens fault they have a tough job made harder by the law which does everything it can to stop them from doing a good job...it is such a shame that this wonderful country, a leader in so many industries and has its name on much of the current civilised worlds technology and morality is slowly sinking into its own self made abyss.

still love the place for now...

  3. Hmm theft is a real problem for sure and the law is generally powerless to do much about it...we wont imprison someone for such deeds and the number of deprived teenagers and young adults out there is off the scale.

    Anarchy is coming..

the Police are too busy being politically correct, worrying about our health and safety by chasing us for speeding to save our lives, so that we can be robbed tomorrow by the thieves who have their rights too and cannot be arrested. Unless they are speeding then they are in real trouble..they will have their licence taken away and then become uninsured drivers and still be out there robbing us.

I know its very cynical but its just a bit too close to the truth to be comfortable...

  4. One thing that always gives you confidence about a truck is that it starts first time every time, this foden does just that, got a man prepped to do the gearbox and then go over all her mechanicals new silicon rubbers for the shocks and new air lines and new anything that looks like it may fail in the next few months..this truck has to be reliable...and will be treated as a commercial truck...she is getting a monster winch which looks like it will pull a house down but is only 8 tons straight line pull, with a 15 ton snatch attached she will do the job i need I am sure.,..am real pleased with my foden, she will be sweet once the speedo is working properly the interior lights are working and the headlights are upgraded, then its a collapsible bed in the cab an extra seat for third and fourth occupants plus a few other luxurys like a working heater in the cab ...

i CANNOT WAIT TO TRY HER OUT ON WEDNESDAY COLLECTING ANOTHER ZIL TO PLAY WITH...

  5. hey mark

I will be loading my Foden next week with an M817 short wheelbase dump truck.

Will post piccies when done...you dont have any contacts for Foden parts for the cab do you. I am after interior bits blinds and better doors etc,...and a full manual would be excellent...

Mine has had a bigger engine the 305 and uprated turbo fitted to give about 340-350 bhp, but am told they have fitted heavy duty axles to the rear which I think is the reason for 50 mph top speed...instead of 65, very annoying...

  6. yes am with you, my boys both got a zil 131 at the age of 12 and 10, 10 year old couldnt reach the controls and see at the same time was very scary...as he popped his head under to do the controls then head up to look where he was going...mind you it still didnt stop him hitting trees and other things along the way...

  7. we had another go with the batteries and they are not showing bad any more but wont reach 100% yet we will see if these batteries can be made to work, they are only 2005 batteries so they should work, my 2001 hawker units are charging brilliantly...

this pulsetech unit is a dream, we had four batteries on site used as lead weight to hold things down, they have been dead for well over 2 years, we filled them with acid put them on the charger and they are now two in my foden one in the star and the other has sprung a leak so is going to the scrappy...

this charger is amazing,...so far i reckon it has saved me over 600 pounds in not needing new batteries...and likely if we can recover another 6 that are suspect it will have saved me another 800 pounds plus...it is a god send...

forgot to add i am now looking into fitting the solar charger to my 432, 434 mtlb saracen and two stalwarts to keep them regulalry topped up...it would be perfect for the them, ie where the batteries are a pain to extract.

  8. OKAY COULD DO WITH HIS CONTACT DETAILS SO I CAN TRY TO FIND OUT SOME HISTORY...ideal would be an army registration number...

Does anyone know of any Foden specialists, people who would know these trucks...plus anyone who might have a manual for the old girl...

Also any old photos of her playing in the past...

  9. Hi guys i an trying to find out a bit of history about my old foden GS, now beaver tail...anyone know where it came from, I know two owners but have not received much info on its history yet from them,...

and on another note anyone know where I can get steel body panels and parts for the old girl...should add it has been about on the scene for a while, mario had it for a while...so I am told...dont know Mario so cant ask him.

  10. yes she is very good, she needs fettling, not got the handling of the steering arms quite right yet so have a bit to learn and have to tidy her up inside a lot...

will be fun but she runs and looks good enough right now...

  11. I could not resist that, here we are having a play tidy and equipment sort out...just got to get my tow ropes on the 432 and a few more ces bits and she will be fit to go...interesting comparison between the two machines...

  12. well done, Paul!... are you gonna bring any toys to our 'Overlord Show 2011'. It's 4 day show, free to exhibit, and is on the 27th-30th May, at Denmead Lawns, Denmead, near Portsmouth, Hants.:cool2:

hmm mine are all post war vehicles really so Overlord seems a bit wrong to me...but i could bring along one or two toys, could bring along the Daf with MTLB and Gaz 69. or I could also trundle down the M62 and the Foden loaded with the Stalwart, a zil, a ural, the mtlb the UAZ 452 etc...will give it a bit of thought...

  13. I at last have the MTLB home she needs a fair bit of work but she runs stops, steers and looks pretty enough...now just need to get some electrics working, some sensors working and give her a good service, oil change, water clearout and change, gearbox oils changed belts adjusted, brakes are way too powerful so no need to do anything there...

thinking of fitting a turret to the old girl...

  14. Paul you are a worthy winner the MTLB was so popular to see it working up and down the small arena we laid on for you was superb well done!

I hope you can make the next one 1st October, Photo of the Big moment:

    Cheers

    Steve

    Thanks Steve...

  15. Hi,

i think you need to nominate your lad as loading assistant :D as witnessed with your restricted view loading was fairly diffulcult especially in front of a crowd.

    Nice setup though looked good

    Ashley

yes need to teach him how to help, it has to be dead on when loading as there is only 3/4 of an inch either side clearance...

  16. only 11 tons, not heavy at all...tad longish and a lot wide at 2850, and 2165 to the inside edge of the tracks, ...scary on an unmodified rack I would assume...
