  1. think its now close to 30 in service now across the nations, the Uk may only have a handful as of yet but they are taking 22 or so in total, they had a lot of teething troubles with the new engine design and the italians buggered up a batch of gearboxes, which didn't help, think the wings were falling off at one time too, but think she is basically working fine now, and is a great deal bigger (payload) quieter, faster and more reliable than the old hercules...
  2. ordered new carb and advance and retard parts and she should be all dandy again...

  7. yes sounds like enthusiasts...closer to me than W&P but not sure I will get there this year due to all the work i am doing on the museum front.

in all my years of my working with stollies and hearing how to stop wind up I have never heard anyone recommend this and yet it seems so perfect. On my pajero it can get very wound up, such that it will not disengage from 4 wheel drive, the only way to unwind it is to go in reverese..it must have a similar effect on the stolly, to a degree, good point indeed..
  12. hi, yes I need to upload them when I get ten minutes but will do...the chieftain is the only vehicle I am having a bit of a stress over, the gate is not wide enough and the auxiliary entrance is dangerous but I may have to stop the traffic for a few minutes when unloading...well for an hour or so likely..that will make them mad...will need a lot of bodies to dirtect the traffic because you all now how impatient we are in a traffic jam...
  13. I have now bought the new farm. its only a small holding but its big enough to get the museum up and running. I am slowly working the land, first so that I can get the bigger vehicles in a bit easier, and second to put a solid hard standing for them prior to building a couple of lean to's. Plus I am installing a few cabins and steel containers to store the parts that will eventually be on display, chieftain engines and such stuff... then I am planning to get a couple of big sheds put up for the bigger stuff. Still not sure how I will get the chieftain in yet but where there is a will as they say. Planning on opening May 1st 2017 The Cold War Museum is coming. Hoping to have a mini event on that day with a few cold war re-enacters coming to walk around. Cows will love all those trucks and buildings to go have a nice scratch on...have entered a link to our facebook page if anyone is interested. https://www.facebook.com/The-Cold-War-Collection-Museum-1095966500427464/

you know you need another one Neil
  15. most important issue is the routing, keep bends to a minimum and make sure it does not flap about or when fixing it down that it does not get crushed. I have always used plain old oil but can honestly say I have never had one fail other than being damaged, rather than worn out.

a barn would be a luxury for me...
  17. My barn has gone so now i only have open storage but I am building my own barns and so that will all change very very soon...keep in touch if you want to put your precious vehicle into my barn, it is going to be my museum...
  18. still a big ouch even with 16% but with 40% a very big ouch...
  19. once tried moving my stalwart without brakes.. I always said it was harder to move a stolly than stop it, until that moment I was 2 inches from a building before it stopped.....scary
  20. 250,000 plus 40% that is seriously high...its always the case with Auctions you think your buying a bargain and then find you have all the extras, plus delivery and storage charges if you dont take it within 7 days...
  21. crikey, this is a very telling thread...we all need to read this thread, it should stay as a sticky.
  22. Okay I have a barn with enough space for one or two machines. i will be storing my own stuff there too so if anyone needs space for anything from a tank to a motorbike let me know...can collect for you if needs be using foden, low loader or daf drops. PM me if interested..
  23. the one on ebay alloy tank doesn't have the right fittings as I can see...
  24. that must be it, thanks for that...
  25. We have had nothing but trouble with the fuel tank of our Daf and now have given up, it seems to be full of some sort of rubber compound and we just cannot clear it and it keeps blocking the fuel lines, we thought we had it sorted and now the tank has sprung a leak on the side. so anyone know where I can get a second one.
