There are AFV club 1/35 Scimitar and Scorpion kits. There are also loads of add ons and conversions for these, such as the Cast Off Sabre conversion and Scimitar LEP kits. I have a lot of them which I have not built as too busy on the real thing!

Did they not rebuild Chieftains at Chilwell? I used to live round the corner but I think the workshops had closed by then. I remember seeing a convoy of challenger 2s going in there once, one fell off a trailer near the depot and destroyed someone's garden.

38 Central Workshop was at Chilwell. (Not a bus garage)
-
And no Scimitars, yet they still have loads...

Hi Ivo - looking good so far. You definitely have a nice workshop and all the tools!
The front bins are usually only fitted that way round when the extra armour is fitted across the front.

Hi JP,
Sounds like maybe a sticky steering calliper? Have you tried taking the pads out and pushing the pistons back in?
-
It has a new organiser, and I believe the new website is coming soon.

A quick search shows I have already asked this question, but this time I posted the photo!

Have you retrofitted clansman intercom to yours?
Clansman intercom yes, I've not bothered with radios and have fitted Bowman bases and antennas to it. I put the crew boxes back where they used to be. I found the cable from the radio battery switch box at the back had been unplugged, stuffed in the corner and replaced in the socket with the Bowman one. When I swapped it back I had power again.

I spoke to the real buyer the other night - he's very happy with the purchase. As an aside, I've just bought the diesel Spartan featured earlier in this thread - woohoo...!
Nice one Tim, that was a bargain!
-
Is this the beastie in question? £9k is a bargain if so!

No, the other one had a gearbox!

Try a new set of spark plugs too.

I think you mean BDR? (Battle damage repair)

Bob,
The seat bit is from a Fox turret seat.

Is there any significance to the different color berets? Were beret part of the standard uniform in 1960's/1970's?
Looks like that photo is from the 90s, no Saxons in the 60s/70s.

I have a 434 for sale on Milweb. Last Sunday I got an email from Bruce@hetzerman.com enquiring if the 434 is still for sale and if so could he make arrangements to visit. Sent reply saying it was and the general location...answer...nothing. looking at the email address does anyone know if it's him ? Bruce and Hetzer seem a bit coincidental.
Looks like it!

Did it sell or fail to meet the reserve?(scorp) what are withams like to deal with on a 1-1 if i were to call in person?
Don't just turn up, make an appointment. They have a lot more stock than what is shown on the website.
-
That's actually the first time they have put a scimitar on the auctions. It will be interesting to see if it meets the reserve as I know what they have been selling these for.
-
I think running and driving it's worth £14k all day long. It would cost you a lot more than that in bits of you wanted to build one... Assuming you could find a diesel gearbox, which you can't!

Looks similar to a Bren box?

It's been there for a while, very rusty!
