And there is a very quick and easy way to avoid any of this grief - use deacts. These are not covered by the Act and as long as you use them sensibly and with due care, you should have no problems.
Problem being a deactivated GPMG costs a lot more than a replica.

Usually the J60s with electronic ignition have a warning sticker on the distributor. If the engine has been painted since it left service it might be missing.

Option A is drive it, option B put it on a trailer. Don't tow it any further than you have to.

It is bolted on, no problem to remove it and there are a few Scorpions which were Sabres at one time.

I'd say your chances are good, it's much better than what I started with!

Hi Gary,
I think I imported the first M151A2 from Portugal in 2010. There's a thread on here:

And a video on YouTube:

Weight in kg from REME recovery manual.
Matt,Did you know that a Centurion clutch weighs almost the same as the engine ? I don't have the exact figures available but it needs a crane to install it. You would certainly be building a quite substantial bed to mount the engine and as you say, extending it backwards to support the back of the clutch would not be too dificult. A dummy gearbox input flange and a big self aligning bearing in a pillow block would do it.
Have fun !

We had an FV432 mk2 with the K60 multi fuel engine about 10 years ago. I was able to get around 600 litres of free fuel from a garage who were being charged to get rid of it, it was mostly petrol but the 432 was quite happy.

Hi Bjorn,
Not really a very good introduction, and not a very good advert either. You don't state where it is or how much it is, and ask people to call without providing a number. Please post a proper introduction and then maybe a better advert in the adverts section.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Robin,
When changing the gearbox you need to adjust the shims on the centre bolt at the back to ensure its level. On the petrol engine if the mounting at the front hasn't been disturbed you shouldn't need to adjust anything when swapping engines. On the diesel the engine mounts are shimmed to ensure it is level when the vehicle was built, if swapping engines they don't need adjusting. I have a manual somewhere that says the thickness of shims should be stamped on the mount, I'll have to dig it out. My Scimitar had all the mounts removed and I had to fit some from another vehicle, I borrowed the alignment tool and had a load of shims laser cut from different thicknesses of stainless so I could set it up properly.

Mark,
It is also worth checking that the rear idler arm is free to move over its full range of travel, they can become stiff and we had one which wouldn't move back down when trying to release the track tension. You can pump some grease in and exercise it if necessary.

eBay allows you to reach the most people, but the fees can be expensive. You can advertise here for free, but we don't have as big an audience as eBay!

You know if I had bet a years wages on who would know and provide an answer - I could now take next year off.
Thanks Chris.

Maybe I should stop being so predictable!

Mark,
I would take a link out if it were me. I see no problem as long as the bushes still look ok.

Rego of a ferret is always a bit of a problem because of its limited vision and the wind up of the drive that is suppose to hurt hard roads.
I think you'll find the wind up hurts the vehicle much more than it hurts the roads..!!!

Not all the hard copies ended up in the bin
I presume you have AESP 2350-T-220-711? The beacon is listed at chapter 2-9-7-7 but no illustration.

John,
If I remember on the weekend I'll have a look and see if there's any numbers on one of mine.

Which variant are you fitting it to?

I can see any attempt at lockin until Sunday pm, ending in real tears. How do you stop someone who has got an armoured vehicle from leaving? Oh dear oh dear, riot and torn down barriers etc.
I will still go this year because of my mates but I WILL be leaving before 7pm Sunday.
The show ends Saturday night this year, Sunday is a packing up day, so I'm fairly sure you will be leaving before 7pm Sunday because everyone else will too....

no, that's a completely restored runner, this was a 2nd machine according to a Mr. Steve Cobb.
Can't find any images of it in storage though, only of a BergePanther that they presumably still have?
I've never seen a completely restored runner at the show?!
