  10. The following was posted on Ebay after the guy selling his Willys jeep said he would not sell to any Asian country "Q: Why not you jeep can't sell to Asia? I want to buy. I am in china. My friend is in the United States. Can I buy? Dec-15-05 A: Sir, I'm glad you asked that question the answer might be a bit complicated for you. But, here we go: The answer is....Because prior to WW2 the US sold various materials to the asians who used those materials against us from Pearl Harbor to Japan in the form of bullets and ships and tanks and airplane and etc. Then during World War Two, your Japanese friends ate the legs off of my great uncle Frank Raley who was killed in the Battle of Sanananda and later recovered by advancing troops from his unit. A year later the Japs executed my cousin (a B-25 pilot) and his whole crew after capturing them near Moim in New Guinea....in the name of the Emporer of Japan. A war crime. And, during the Korean war your Chinese ancestors helped to torture my uncle who was a medic that was captured at the Chosin Reservoir. And, in the Vietnam war the Chinese were the main line of support for North Vietnam and the NVA that ended up killing more than 57,000 american troops....some of whom were friends of mine, some of whom were related to me and all of whom were fighting for something that I cherish and hold dear and that you could not even begin to understand. Therefore.. I wouldn't intentionally sell a sack of horse crap much less a historical jeep to anyone from China or Japan or Asia in general.... That is why. Told you it was a complicated answer. But that is as honest as I can be with the reason." Commander

  14. Ashley wrote "I am sure these are a thing of the past " This kind of statement is brought out every year and every year it seems to be the same bad toilets join the line for the showers and kids and adults driving around like looneys I do not object to the driving around it's the speed they do this at I object about maybe I'm a cynic and this year it will be different we will wait and see Commander
  15. Hi have you tried http://www.g503.com/ US based and a tresure chest of info Commander
  16. Very nice but isn't the idea of indicators so you can be seen by other road users and 2 led bulbs are surely not going to do that I know what my preference would be . It is all right trying to be original but with todays traffic on the roads surely safety should be your number 1 priorty . I personally removed the blackout inners front and back to give more light out ok it's not original but I know there is not going to be some dummy running up my rear end because he could not see me Commander
  17. Hi, it would not be a dealer who is just down from Calais by any chance would it, if so been there got the badge Commander
  18. I have seen the cheap jeeps that have been civilianised from down the south of france a lot have had a diesel engine put in all the military stuff taken off , yes you can get one for less than £3,000.oo. but then you have to get it back to the UK so the economics, 1000 miles roughly each way if you live in the midlands, ferry cost car plus trailer, motorway tolls each way, meals and accomadation for 2 people, hire of trailer if you can do this for less than £700.oo. you are doing well and remember you are relying on someone being honest about the vehicle I went to just north of Switzerland to pick up a jeep when I got there and saw the fibre glass repro body on it I was gobsmacked but as he said I never asked if it had a fibre glass body on it , that was a real learning curve for me, also when you get it back to the UK it is not cheap to register them, the only way to do it is to take a large flat bed truck and load 6 at a time up Commander than £500.oo. you can do this for less
  19. I think the only M201's needing a lot of restoration a selling for a lot of money the cheap jeep myth is still around though, it's finding them is the hard part but saying that I do have a cheap jeep for sale it is a Ford £1500.oo. only trouble is it's a Mutt 151 ,and as of yet those have not gone stupid on the prices yet Commander
  20. I saw one , I saw one , and claimed my free badge thought it was well attended but it was bloo**y freezing did mention it to organisers they said they would try to get some portable gas patio heaters next time Commander

  22. Hi folks, has any body heard on here about the free draw they are doing at Malvern this year at the show apparently at 14.00.hrs on the Sunday afternoon they will be drawing a winning entry ticket out from when you go in the show and some lucky so and so is going to get £50.oo. cash . I know the only problem with that is when ever I get a raffle ticket or such and put it up safe when they draw the damn thing I can never find them, any one else the same Commander

  25. Well got the pig going today must say the engine sounds fine runs like a watch , the only problem I have encountered is there is a horrible dronning coming from the back end, the log book says first reg 1953 chassis no 21383 found 13 BK 83 inside looks like it has got the extra armour added what a bugger to get in and out of deffinitly for the slender type to hop in and out off why oh why did I secume to it's ungainly beauty Commander
