  1. Lauren if it starts with a 2 then its some form of green. 298 is olive drab, so memory not so bad after all :-D Matt I went to that place a few years ago & found them quite unhelpful when I tried to get a match for the Shorland. Maybe they are ok if you can provide the BSC. In the absence of this they wanted the model of car & year. Despite explaining the unusual nature of the vehicle once they found that Shorland 1966 was not listed they weren't willing to make a match from the sample that I took. Now the radiater place further up on the corner by the main road I have found most obliging & used them several times.
  2. Lauren, are you sure about the number? Can't be green if it starts with 3 361 is Light Stone
  3. Actually that was my main reason for staying until the end of the show :-D
  4. Oh don't be so daft Bernard! You knew the answer all the time, you were just stringing me along..... maybe..... perhaps?:undecided:
  5. Welcome Steve I have previously noted your user name & realised its significance to your interests & location :-D. Seen you on EMLRA & good to have someone who can come in with definitive information.
  6. Absolutely correct well done! It is "intended for use on field firing ranges for the purpose of connecting a bell at the target pits." The odd hidden clues: You all seem to be pitting your wits & I seem be the target Originally Posted by Degsy Fire alarm? Not in that sense. Well done everyone for having a go
  7. These are extracts from some of my answers. Don't know if that will help? You all seem to be pitting your wits & I seem be the target Originally Posted by Degsy Fire alarm? Not in that sense. 8. Not mining related. TB raised that idea earlier on.
  9. When plugged in the case shorts out the lower two contacts.
  10. Nope, this equipment was not for use in actual conflict & is not artillery related.
  11. Interesting link Tony but the case does just enclose a bell. Besides the range over which it would be required to work would not be long enough to require a relay.
  12. Nope. I hadn't thought of the relevance to "R" but in fact there are a range of meanings to "R" that could reveal its purpose.
  13. Nope but you need to think of your words in different context.
  14. I'm afraid no FOOs envolved. This equipment was not for use in actual conflict.
  15. The vague is probably too vague to be of value in untangling the use. There were two words in one of my replies yesterday that extracted from the context will give the game away.
  16. An intriguing idea Tony but not correct.
  17. All sounds a very reasonable use of the apparatus, but it was designed for another purpose.
  18. Nope, but very vaguely sort of getting warm slightly perhaps maybe.
  19. Nope. This is not a trench warfare item.
  20. Nope In fact one of my answers today has virtually given away the answer :-D
  21. I think the brass strips in the bottom of the box connect together so when the box is inserted the lower two contact strips on the mounting bracket are short circuited. This could then be used to activate say a bulb & battery to indicate to the controller of the bells that a particular bell box was plugged in. The controller being out of earshot of the bell.
