  1. In the past Wally I have been faced with this dilemma when looking at one on a stall. I think you will find the Ferret one is a bit longer 2990-99-815-775 whereas the Pig one is 2990-99-848-4733
  2. Like Wayne says, although these are little longer:
  3. I was wondering whether these record cards after Jan 1976 were still RAF cards or Army ones (DOS Form 419B)? If the RAF ones were still being used, perhaps as a slight act of defiance or for local convenience, it may have been felt that the colour in words would continue to be included?
  4. The first answer is I haven't had time to look for it yet. The second answer is here: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?38084-What-is-this-tool&highlight=tool
  5. I certainly did have. I once posted it on here to try to find out what it did. I'll have a look & see if I've still got it.
  6. Interesting link Tony, rather more sophisticated than the stretchers on planks of wood conversion.
  7. Yes Wally 1875. Although it does make reference to 'British railways' but only in the broadest sense not 'British Railways'. I think there were dozens of railway companies in that era, although we seem to have quite a few nowadays for better or worse..
  8. I'm sure though Wayne he would need know whether the spares he has in reserve are any good for him when a failure does occur. Now with a working system is the real time to put the spares to the test.
  9. Yes well done Wally It was the conversion of a second class passenger carriage for the transport of the sick & wounded on a British railway network. In addition there were specially constructed ambulance carriages, invalid carriages (I'm sorry if that is now considered a politically incorrect term but that is what they were called) and goods waggons. I have some details I'll post up that cover fitting the conversion into the railway carriage. Anyone got a date for this maybe?
  10. Nothing sea-faring, the scribble stuff is more luxurious than kelp.
  11. Wally this is not sea related. This arrangement is land based but it is not directly at ground level ie flat on the ground. It is above ground level at a guess in the order of 10 ft or something like that.
  12. Ah yes much more user friendly! But presumably those cards pre-date 1st January 1976 when the Army assumed the responsibility for RAF MT & became the Single Service Manager. I suppose a two-character code lends itself more to the data processing systems used by the Army starting with VESPER then SALOME & now JAMES.
  13. I can see what you are thinking Lauren but this is not an airborne thing.
  14. Wayne these panels seem suspect. Can you fit them in turn to RR's Champ and establish their functionality?
