The salt has to be dissolved in the vinigar. After that you put the brass in and see the oxydation being eaten away in bubbles. (i dont know the mixture) I did put about 2 spoons in 250cc of vinigar. The brass looks like red copper as it comes out but a quick clean with brasso makes it nice golden again. This week i cleaned an old art deco lamp that someone had hanging outside. The parts were about 15 miniutes in the solution, than rinced under a running tap, dried and polished on the polishing wheel, shiny like new... Good luck.

I have good results in cleaning brass parts without scratching them by putting them in an mixture of vinigar and salt. It even bites off green oxydation but doesn't damage good brass. But you have to keep an eye on the process and pick the parts out of the solution when ready. And wash them in water.

By the way it looks as the man in front of the fallen truck is using a large wooden jack. Not sure what is trying to lift though.

I cleaned the interior from a lot of dust and it turns out most valves are prewar and 1 is german Reichsluftfahrtministerium and one is british WD issue... So the thing is older than i thought. I think the wooden frame is build later.

I did have a quick check of the thing it seems that they build a 220volt power supply chassis on the left next to the original green chassis. Maybe it was an battery operated unit?

Did find this strange radio. Apart from the dutch and french markings on the front there is not any marking on the set. The dial even doesn't have frequency markings on it but numbers. The hands function like those of a clock. The valves seem to be from the 40s. Could also be Civil Defense. Did anoyone see one of those yet.

Paris police did try this in the 30s on several vehicles but the plates got dented on the curbs and than they damaged the tyres so it wasn't much good. See this panhard troop carrier.

Did give it a try, all tubes light up and apart of some soft noise from the speaker there is nothing. A light crackling when turning the volume button. And the red power light varies a bit in intensity. Didn't want try to send without an appropriate antenna.

Hi Iain. Thanks for your elaborate help. It has 3 Mullard OC35 transistors in the front under the plate with the enamelled BCC logo. There a 5 cristals 4 by the relay and one under a grey cover next to the transformer. It looks very clean inside. But indeed i have to check the parts. I am a member of an local oldtimer radioclub but a transciever is something different. Transistors with intern cristal growth can be recovered. I did that already on an Sailor ships radio. I found out BCC made this type of equipment for Marconi also and it was used by the emergency services. It had a similar look but was painted completly in hammerite style silver-grey. Regards Fer
