  1. Thanks gents, I have the parts just need to get the hole right now. I should have drilled this before I painted the head lamp.......
  2. Hi Ron. May I ask please, what is the approximate dimension from the centre of the King of the road medallion to the front of the headlamp rim? I have now got mine to fit but I need to drill the headlamp bowl......😬
  3. Thanks Ron, this fills in a lot of blanks! Just need to find one 😉
  4. Oil tank on and newly renovated battery carrier fitted....slowly starting to look like a bike with the 8” headlamp. I am having a little trouble finding a 1” throttle barrel compatible with my twist grip, I have tried three which I have as spares but all appears a little chunky.....a long shot but has anyone got a picture of the correct throttle/barrel components?
  5. In the coming week I hope to get the headlamp fitted and tentatively start the wiring...have any of you kind chaps got a panel tank wiring diagram, please?
  6. A few small job done today, the horn is back together and finally working again! You will definitely hear me coming!
  7. Good job Ron! I look forward to hearing the results after your test ride 👍
  8. Thanks gents for all the advice on the rear tail lamp...I shall hang on for the correct MT210........I am sure one will come along. I have plenty of other job and parts to keep me busy in the meantime 🙂 You beat me to it Ron, good job on the seat bungees, looks good! Before I get stuck into mine I have finally got the horn working and prepped for painting, including the troublesome chain guard which is now much more serviceable....
  9. Ron, is that a Lucas MT210 rear light? I have noticed they are like hens teeth to find and there is not a reproduction available? Am I correct in assuming the closest alternative option/solution is the MT211? Steve
  10. Ron this is perfect, thank you! Sorry I meant to write the lower *part of the chain guard.
  11. The bottom end has now been sent away for rebuilt so I have now started on the resto of the last few components.......the chain guard is in a sorry state so lots of repair needed.....the horn was not working, so I have fully stripped it also for rebuild. It looks as if it been sat in water for some time 🙈 Can I ask, how does the lower chain guard fix to the frame?
  12. Hi Both. This is fantastic, it gives me a starting point.....I shall fettle away. Ron once I have experimented I shall let you know which length/s work best. Currently I am just piecing all of the bottom end engine components together to get ready to send them off for rebuilt.... I am slowly plodding on, the battery carrier is looking much more acceptable, not perfect but authentic I think is the word🙂 I am confident the battery will not drop out of it now anyway.
  13. Thanks Ron! I think I will stick with that setup too! I am just now debating how to finish the control levers, should they have been cad plated originally? More new parts arriving yesterday, the saddle bungee kit......
  14. Big leaps forward this weekend, the front mudguard is now on, front wheel back in, gearbox finished & levers on. I have managed to source a wartime dated regulator but I may swap this at a later date for a solid stat alternative, I am yet to find an early dates MRC1 to use as a donor. Looking at some period photos it appears the value lever is fitted on the outside of the combi clutch lever instead of immediately after the rubber bar grip.....this makes the decompression lever a little awkward to pull, when needed. What is the general consensus and what is correct?
  15. One of my previous restorations. My Triumph 3SW, thanks for sharing Barrie.
  16. Looks great Ron! What size is your Lucas madallion, please? I love the gas detection paint, is that original ? Steve
  17. As I plod on with the battery carrier I have now taken delivery of a load more new nuts and bolts which means I can finally fit some more of the smaller components. Currently the headlamp shell I am using is a reproduction and as such not drilled for the cabling to enter or leave the bowl. I cannot seam to find a good enough picture which shows this? Can anyone shed some ‘light’ onto this for me, please? Can I ask, what is this shown on the glass of the headlamp? How can it be replicated?
  18. A bit more elbow grease Ron and it will be as good as new!
  19. The strap and carrier is now solid but there is now a fair amount of prep work to get this just right.....
  20. Final rotten sections cut out and new sections welded in. It’s extremely thin in places so a fine layer of filler will be needed
