  1. A quick update from a speeding train. Our favourite online auction site supplied some shiny new hole saws, so I have proceeded to cut holes. With help from my brother I lifted the seat box up onto the radial drill and clamped it to the bed. This drill was chosen for its very low drilling speeds - 20, 30 and 40 rpm. Hole positions were pilot drilled but the saw was centred using a length of 1/4" brass rod to guard against the saw wandering. Holes for mummy bear and daddy bear were cut before the box had to be repositioned to cut the hole for ickle baby bear. Pictures below will fill in the details: Followed by a trip to the paint shop and a brush full of primer on the freshly cut and sanded surfaces. I've also found time to get some primer on the floorboards.

  2. The Hogmoor Enclosure at a Bordon Hampshire that was once part of REME, its still owned by the MOD as crown land and is now run and looked after by the Land Trust. A while back I discovered a Bofors Gun site and Radar trailer 50 yards away on the Enclosure. Both gun site and Radar trailer are now both listed as part of English Heritage. This year the Land Trust is holding a celebration of Military history in September on the 24th Sunday. The Trust if they can would like to have a Bofors gun there for the day from 10-4 for display. I was wondering if anyone on the forum who has a Bofors gun would like to show off their pride and joy for the event. If anyone would like to help out just message me and get something organised.

  3. I have a rusty old ex-RAF K6 that at some point has had a 1940 vintage searchlight lorry body (presumably K3?) stuck on the back and converted to a tipper. My retirement project is to restore it, probably removing the tipper gear but retaining the body, which I don't think is too far removed from the type that could have originally been fitted. It's going to be a long haul, but for starters can anyone suggest sources for parts and any other K6's within striking distance of Hereford that I can visit now and again to check what it should look like in those important little places?

  4. A lot of the paintwork is now done and I've started the rebuild. I'm still waiting for the brake shoes to come back from Villiers, but I'm hoping to collect my repaired cylinder head tomorrow. By using 6 different sources, I've managed to acquire everything brand new to refurb the head and rockers. I'm also going to use a modified Triumph 750 piston with a compression plate which will take it out to nearly 400cc. Ron

  5. Dear All, Dear All, no it does not mean that Nick's bank accounts are 'freed'. UK High Street banks still cannot take the regulatory risk of dealing with Ukrainian businessmen. The financial returns are too small and yet the Financial Conduct Authority will fine them hundreds of thousands of pounds for any infringement of the Money Laundering Regulations. Government Ministers have said, on the Record, at the Despatch Box, that the complete integrity of the money laundering regulations is more important than allowing the export of AFVs to Ukraine. Treasury ministers do not seem to understand that there is a war on, albeit not directly involving us. Every AFV that Nicks sends out to Ukraine will provide protected mobility to another group of Ukrainian soldiers and avoid them being killed needlessly when compared to a soft skinned vehicle. If you do meet any elected politicians of any colour do raise the issue with them. Ask them "Are you aware that the Money Laundering Regulations are preventing the export of Armoured Fighting Vehicles to Ukraine and what are you going to to do about it?. John
