  1. Clive, Only certain people would use it? That would be Officers then. My guess is that it is for them to wash under, with two divisions so he can step into the second part when finished, which should be dry. The cover would be draped over him whilst in use to save his modesty  then covered over tray to keep clean and dry before the next use. Now tell me I am wrong! Just had a thought, perhaps the Batman stands in the other half, keeping his feet dry while he scrubs the Officers back :-D
  2. Thanks Mark, Jack is not a very good host, always disappearing or going to sleep.
  3. Sorry Enigma, dancing girls just had the last Coke :-D You will have to have a beer instead.
  4. My 1,000th post :-) Well I have finally arrived, when can I have a key to the club house?
  5. Ian, With the price of scrap brass now, most owners would have weighed them in for petrol money ;-)
  6. Going back to the Eighties, a lot of rallies of all types, steam, vintage, etc, gave cast brass plaques and I know some people would not attend unless there was a plaque....and also kicked up if they had run out of them and did not get one. Those were the days when owners would proudly display their "Where we've been" board in front of the vehicle, first job at show, to fix the latest plaque on it. Not seen half so much now. I think it died out because the public took more interest in looking at the boards and not the vehicle it was leaning against.
  7. Nigel, I had a couple of these in the early Seventies, and also worked on them for the Army and am sure they were all equiped with pannier frames.
  8. Actually, the plaques at Beltring were for a long time, cast brass, with a different vehicle depicted each year, but around the time that the organising was taken away from IMPS and it became War & Peace, they changed to screen printed sheet metal.
  9. Ashley, That would be Jean Ziger, from Luxembourg with his Demag. In fact last year he did not bring the Demag, but I am certain he did not display this year.
  10. Clive, My old memory is quite so bad as I thought, just needs honing a bit. Something I wonder about though, is that once in 4wd on paved roads, I would be surprised if it disengaged easily on changing gear, maybe this was a drawback of this.
  11. I think I am close.....and possibly got it the wrong way around. When you select 2WD this lock stops you from selecting 1st gear, due to the torque breaking drive lines. When 4WD is selected, lock comes out. I may be talking bollox, but as I said, Pigs were not my favourite vehicle.......but I love pork :-D
  12. Fair enough...but a deactivated one would "look" like the real thing. The law are less likely to have a fit over a dummy discharger, than one that is still intact.
  13. Could be....because Ranger could also be mounted on the Combat Support Boat
  14. In my eyes, anything that is a "replica", is something that is an exact copy of an object, in all ways. Whereas, if one of these dischargers were to be cast as a lump in alloy for instance, with no hollow tube, then it would be a dummy and be of no use or threat at all. In fact a dummy would be be just as inert as a deactivated one.
  15. Clive, I recall some sort of lock out lever adjacent to the main gear lever on Mk2 Pigs. As Pigs were vehicles I avoided as much as possible in Workshops, my memory of this is not good, except that I think it was to lock out 1st gear when in 4 wheel drive, because the torque could cause drive shaft failure. Am I on the right track?
  16. looks like a Japanese tank......don't recollect that being at Beltring
  17. Part of the launcher on a Hornet ? :dunno:
  18. Hi Les, I have a selection of catalogues Champion, KLG, Lodge, AC, etc and can cross reference. Send me a PM with what you wish to trace. regards, Richard
  19. Ranger mine projector.............mounted on a 432 ;-)
  20. Baz, Are you sure they are Land Rover? One appears to have a handbrake cable going in to the back plate, something unseen on Landies. Could be ENV axles fitted to something else, as they are similar in looks, the end looks strange though..........not like any Rover I have ever worked on.
  21. Clive, Is it some kind of hatch or door lock for holding in the open position with the small lever attached to release to close?
  22. Good news, Clive! Actually, OEP220 is 80w/90, ................so there must be a significant difference, between that and 90EP, then.
