I have owned this mashine only for FEW WEEKS. I do have an English manual. I am looking for someone who knows more about them. Someone who could possibly go over it and show me more about operation and use. What to check for etc. Seems very healthy starts stright away runs well, (I have seem plenty that seem a real pain to start)Gears all seem to operate as they should. Im going to be driving it from Worcester to the Overloard show in near Portsmouth at the end of May. So knowing more could help. Im going with a friend in his Cat 1 M.A.N 8X8 There is a few in the Uk but not many i suspect about 6 or 7 but it just a guess. If anyone can help with any knowledge.

Registration of Stormer Shielder
stal108 replied to HorseyGSXR's topic in Legislation, Licenses & Registration
Hi all Just very interested in reading your posts ,,, lol pmpl There seems to be a problem with oversize. A tracked vehicle does not have size restrictions. Even crown vehicles must now comply with law. Ie a challi 2 . There is no exemptions anymore I did 100s and I mean 100 of miles in my tiran on the roads with no problems. THE WIDTH WAS ON THE LOG BOOK,,10.8 AND I TOLD THE INSURENCE. I had people telling my my Foden drops was over width and in construction and use regulations 8.3 is as wide as you can have,, but a Foden is 9.57 wide,,SO stgo REGS at 55ton again I have not heard of anyone who has one got any problems with width , mine was the first on in the uk on the road and I helped others register there's.. with no problems,, and some would say not telling pork pies on size.. I said it a 55ton train weight vehicle being coverd by stgo regulations. God forbid I ever run anyone over in there rangerover.. but I would be happy to stand in court. water tight..i think I am looking for a shielder myself and I can assure you it will be road registered and driven on the road. It is good for people to point out pit falls and I hope people will continue to do so,, on the side of caution if your unsure do not do it. But I am sure and I will. -

S26 scammell & DAF Drops
stal108 replied to stal108's topic in Transporters & Wreckers (All Nations)
1600X20 FIT Happy days need to do some arch mods,, but makes them real fast,,,,, the sldt could do 70mph,, too fast yes but the 350 rolls could pull it, so at 56mph the rpm was reasonable and mpg was very good, A chap tried it on a drops but didnt go through with it,, But i see no reason it would not work as the sldt,, see pics of 1600x20 on a drops,, -
Hi ALL As said Alvis "Stalwaltized" a saladin back in the dark ages so it can be done. They also used stolly brakes, A great idea more power and speed and better brakes is a good idea. As others have said im sure there must be someone who has done this if not why not. The gearbox should be ok as long as its not driven like a squaddie. In my saladin i have stripped the transfer from the rest of the box to leave a shaft. I am using a M.A.N 150 6 Cylinder diesel N/A. It revs to 4000rpm and 395ftlb torque using a manual gearbox and the prop going to the shaft. Sounds simple.....! I did the same with a saracen i used a jag 4,2 with auto box. Worked well. Ill post pics when i have the engine in.

I see some think it is quite costly to have a day out ,, have you ever been to a theme park? £18.50 for the seouth east i can not see the problem could someone explain. £18.50 for a full day and as we all know its a busy day to try and get round everything in a day. For one it a full Arena day let alone the rest trucks and the effort some of those renactors go too,,is quite outstanding. If i were going to pay i would think i got my moneys worth.. -
