  1. It's all down to personnel preference at the end of the day. As far as reliability of service petrol engine all comes down to simplicity and crew maintenance. The 2 stroke diesel Chieftains had a very poor reputation but the ones in preservation don't get everywhere near the same abuse.1
  2. Hi guys anyone have any info on the correct stensals and markings for a RAF 741? My father has one and we believe it may have been used by Poland's force's? Currently in civi paint scheme. But still have the original panniers though showing there are now. Was wanting to either repaint as a RAF dispatch bike or if can get enough gen possibly in the colours and markings used in Poland.

  5. What's the difference between one and two pack?
  6. I am going to have to Brush and roll the paint as I dont have the space to spray and dont want to upset the neighbors with over-spray. I have picked this section for this question as I am not very up on paints. Can I roll 2 pack, thought it was mostly for spraying?
  7. Have decided to bite the bullet and repaint my CVR(T). Have had it for sake for a while now but not been to bothered if it went or not , the paint work is what you would expect from any vehicle that has been in service with lots of layers of paint and some flaking. Sadly the last person who came to look at her decided to start pulling the paint off in large lumps, not sure why anyone feels they have the right to pull off paint from a vehicle they dont own but less said about that. What I need to know is what is the best base primmer to use before repaint. I know I will need to use a etch primmer but not sure if the colour is that important. I will be going to use NATO Green and black colour scheme , so was going to go for a grey primmer but have seen black is available. Which is the best to go for and approx how much would give me a descent base coat? Would have thought 2lt should do it. What is the best colour to use for the interior?
  8. Selling my sabre listed below in the for sale section.

Replica Rarden and chain gun and spoke discharges. Spare sprockets idlers and road wheels. Full set of periscopes except for the infa-red drivers scope. The Gunners infa-red scope is still fitted to the turret. Have some spares, tools and also some CES spare intercom parts and headset, crew helmets. Have a full set of spare track with 80% wear left in them but this is by separate negotiation £3000. Located in Sheffield South Yorkshire. £22,500.00 OVNO If interested please call 0740 15 19 117. Sorry won't be supplying any further photos due to previous time wasters if your genuinely interested come and have a look :cool2: Any test drives unfortunately will have to be charged but this of course will be deducted from the final selling price. Sorry to have to add this but due to time wasters and those wanting free "tank Rides" have had to make this decisions. If genuine I see no problem and depending on the potential buyer if felt was truly interested would have paid for a ride when I was looking. As with everything over the years I had owned this CVR(T) I have been abel to get more parts and equipment to go with the vehicle.
  10. Cheers guys, managed to get it sorted now. It was a bugger of a job to get the engine deck off by myself. I did try and search carb setting on the forum but could not find what I wanted to very grateful.

  14. The BARV will be moving from Doncaster to Bradford Thursday the 2nd October around 1000 hrs if anyone see's it . Thanks to Stuart for the help. Should be running and driving at the next Yorkshire war time show.
  15. Need storage for my BARV in the Yorkshire North Derbyshire area. anyone able to help? Either PM me or call 0740 15 19 117
  16. Sorry to say the Cent BARV's don't have a Aux engine. I know they did at some point have a single cylinder BSA engine in the engine bay as per the parts book but I think this was as a back up charger for the batteries but don't have one though would like to get one to mount up.
  17. At times I have got to the point where the batteries are getting a low charge and would rather avoid having to drag the batteris out to charge them, and was wondering if I could fit a Intervehicle starter box on my FFR Landrover and use that to boost the batteries on the Centurion or Sabre. I would gues the Sabre should not be a problem but not so sure about the Centurion with it being a much bigger draw on start up. Any informed suggestion? Also does anyone have a spare intervchicle starter box they dont want?
  18. Yes it was the bottom one. I have been looking for years for one.
  19. In the late 50's eary 60's my father was issued with a ground crew fishtail jacket. I have not seen anyother like it or sicne. sorry to say that the one I had which he gave me gave up the ghost may years sicne and was thrown away. What I can say is that they where gray and had a hood as well as a fishtail and a groin strap to fastern between your legs, the same as you got on the old DPM jacekts and the para smocks. Anyone seen these before or have any photos of them? I have tried to look through google but no luck. The one I had was a very warm jacket so doubt it would have been used in the tropics which was my fathers second to last posting. He was ground cre on the Vulcans and told me these where standard issue to all ground crew.
  20. Have a Sankey Trailer and a few years ago had the cance of getting a sankey water bowser and fitting kit from Craddocks at the time I did not have the space but sicne I have and need one have been unabel to find one. Does anyone know where I can get one from and if anyone does have one would they be able to either send me some phote and dimentions? I havr the Standard landrover Narrow sankey trailer.
  21. Saw him at RAF Waddington air show a few years back. was a little overwhelmed and found myself unable to pick up the courage to speak to him and wimped out and got the wife to ask for his autograph which I still have. Wished I had the courage to talk to him, he seemed very amenable .
  22. Cheers Chris that was just what I was after.
