Jack
Hi chaps. Can anyone be as kind as to post up an image of your bumper of your GMC where it has been converted to carry 4 jerry cans? As I would like to add this to mine. Thanks for your help. 8) Jack.
Karoshi
Jack I dont have any close ups of the setup, but see what you can make out of this. The following is contributed thanks to Mr Tamiya: Although parts A7 & A8 are different in my installation, with the upright backplates being ommitted. Hope this helps Karoshi

Karoshi
Yes jack, you make it to look like the drawing and you've got a 4 space Jerry can holder.
Jack
Yes jack, you make it to look like the drawing and you've got a 4 space Jerry can holder. I have also seen them with the holders bolted back to back as well.

Jack
Ok, gotch ya, I've not seen that on a GMC. retro fit on a jeep yes but never seen it on a deuce bumper. Do you have a pic? Doh, no I don't I saw one like at Kemble last year. Another question, how common was this to use the brackets above as you don't see many trucks with this mod. Karoshi
After the breakout of Normandy and the fighting became more fluid, the rapid advance of the fighting front became a logistical problem. with 1st and 3rd Armies consuming some 400,000 gallons EACH per day, every drop of fuel delivered to the front was valuable. With a supply line running a round trip of some 500 miles (and more) from the beach head to the lines, delivery alone took valuable supplies away from the fighting man. So they improvised and adapted and vowed to deliver a FULL load to the front. Fuel (and water) was carried in cans, and racks were often field mods to add as many as possible. On bigger trucks several cans were carried on the front wings, and "holders" were frequently used as a quick expedient. being fitted where ever possible. Double cans in holders attached to the rear mud flaps of a Jimmy for example, was not uncommon. I guess you got to decide what it is you want to portray. On a short haul GRU or laundry unit, it may not be appropriate.
