Rick W Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Is there any way of finding out what the census number of a vehicle is? Is there an online database available that I dont know about? Im after the census number that would be stamped on my Champs plate (60BE61), but just a general question as well. Quote
0 sirhc Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Rick, The census numbers were replaced in the late 40s with the standard military registration number. Your Champ has one of these numbers, 60BE61, so would never have had a census number. Chris Quote

After that, the term became "census code" and defined the type and variation of a vehicle. The census code for a cargo Champ was 304010.01.215, the FFW was 304650.01.215. The census code was never stamped on the Champ's ID plate. Andy Quote
0 croc Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Could this number I found, under several layers of paint on my Explorer, be a census code then? Quote
