Cutaway
The XR311 "GI HotRod" was one of the origins of the Hummer used today by the US Military. Personally, i find the design of it feasible even today and thought somthing heavily based on it could be a cheap solution for Foreign Militaries who want somthing less expensive to run etc or even a variant for the civillian market. A 'Schwimwagen' variant of it could be manufactured for the likes of the Marines. Cutaway
Was'nt the XR311 built by Teledyne??.One of the failed bidders for the Hummer cotract??. The XR311 was made by FMC but the Teledyne model was ok though. The Lamborghini Cheetah was supposed to be a 'rip off' of the XR311 but had a rear passener section and was made from fibreglass. Only one was made and it crashed by accident during the US Army vehicle trials. As for the contaminated website, Here are some images i salvaged from it: http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/6981/fmc1li8.jpg http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/2905/fmc2xv6.jpg http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/4909/fmc3zh5.jpg http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/5725/fmc4sm3.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/7476/fmc5ds7.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/2185/fmc6th5.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/8969/fmc7bp8.jpg http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/7083/fmc8va7.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/8099/fmc9iy7.jpg http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/2289/fmc10oz1.jpg And some images of it before/after pimping up: http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/8558/fmc11bo6.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/9064/fmc12br9.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/3289/fmc13nv8.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/6973/fmc14jd1.jpg http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/1967/fmc15dz4.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/7823/fmc16xj3.jpg Edited June 10, 2008 by Cutaway
theman10k
Hi guys Currently researching this vehicle and wondered if any of you knew how many of the Second Gen Production batch still live and where are they? Ive seen a few in the U.S. and it looks like two in private hands and two in two museums. So where are the rest of them? Does anyone on here have one? Know of one for sale? berna2vm
I must have done thousands of miles with mine. I had a few battery packs and would charge them up. I could drive for hours. A birthday later I got a Cheetah and a couple of birthdays after that a Sand Scorcher. Along with motorcycles this was as good as it got for a teenager !!!:-)
