Mark Ellis
Hi, On the film of Operation Mudlark (1966), they show an aluminium snatch block being trialled by MEXE. Does anyone know if this got an FV number or anything, please The snatch block is at 12 minutes 25 secs in. The full film is at https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/1060035249 Many thanks

Tarland
Mark, Please see attached pics of an alloy snatch block that bears some resemblence to the stills from the OP Mudlark film The block itself has several coats of paint so nothing visible on the body but the securing pin has an FV number on it - Maybe @wally dugan @Richard Farrant could shed some light. The certification tag states SWL of 16 Tonnes

I'm guessing the little bar on the pin is for pulling the pin out with. Thanks for this
Tarland
The bar is spring loaded and runs up a ramp to secure. Theres a slot on the back plate of the block the that the pin engages with with the T shape pin end.. I'll get a couple more pics The number on the pin is FV599055

Richard Farrant
Hi Tarland, You asked about the snatch block, I checked out the FV number of the pin and it came up with manufacturer as QINETIQ and discontinued: FV599055, 3 - Design Control Reference, 2 - Production Item, QINETIQ · U0795 ; 01-1101-400, 5 - Replaced / Discontinued, 2 - Production Item, W F E L LTD · K7705. Then under two separate manufacturers stock numbers it shows as also made by WFE Ltd and the interesting one .... Paccar Parts UK, which would indicate Foden, but this is only the pin of course and I do recognise that item from the Foden EKA NSN for pin is 2590-99-834-0477
