rocket ron Posted July 15, 2023 Share Posted July 15, 2023 Hello, I have aquired a Mertrak tow tug after years of searching. Its in remarkable shape given its approx 1939 with a Ford 8 engine in it(e04a). In the process of working on the engine to get it running. New coil, cutout, distributer cap and leads etc. Today have managed some pops and bangs and backfires. Its in LMS railway cream and red but everything underneath the bonnet etc is MOD green. Serial number on brass plate looks to be 716. These were tugs used to tow bomb trailers out to the waiting planes. Drove my dads as a 12 year old which was used on his Mod depot back in 1964 and that towed 3 original bomb trailers converted to flat bed trailers. Am making a step by step video and photo diary as i proceed with renovation. Any info, spare parts location or anything to help would be greatly appreciated. Was made in Gloucester.
