SusiBiker
As of November 1999, am medically-retired from MoD after a near-fatal RTC (motorcyle T-boned a Ford Orion that turned across the road in front of me). Was in the Royal Yeomanry and drove Fox(es) and Spartans in KCLY Sharpshooters 'C' Squadron from 1983 to 1986. Am looking to purchase an FV103 with a Perkins power unit, but will take a J60 at the right price. Would love a FV102 Striker if I cannot get an FV103. Basic'd at Catterick during that nasty Winter of 1983. One of our intake was taken to hospital after doing a river-run carrying a huge log - against the Regs (and beating them!). This HUGE rugbly player was hospitalised with severe hypothermia. I hope he survived. We never saw him again. Initially drove various Fox vehicles, then converted to the Boot Troop Spartans after gaining my 'h' licence. Have a 1977 Triumph Bonneville; a long-suffering partner, a semi-feral cat (that adopted us), a house full of gadgets, and severe ADHD - hence the "long-suffering partner" comment. Poor guy.
john1950
I am not a biker but can appreciate the Bonneville, cats only stay where they want. After the J60 was the upgrade not a Cummins B ceres. Good luck with the hunt prices have gone stratospheric lately.
sirhc
U.K. CVRTs were fitted with a Cummins 6BTA during the life extension programme. The Stormer has the Perkins engine. Spartans with the diesel engine are now thin on the ground as the Ukrainians have hoovered up any which dealers had in stock and most of the privately owned ones. Strikers are also thin on the ground as the only ones available are the petrol ones. The diesel strikers were stripped for spares and used as hard targets.
john1950
That shows my shallow knowledge of the vehicle. Which model of Perkins was fitted? Back then would it be the T6354.
