MiketheBike
Guys, I know some of you have replaced your runflats with non-run-flats. Is replacing the tyres something that can be done by a normal punter like me? Do you re-use the same inner tube (there is also a ring between the two wheel halves to secure the tyre bead?)? Is the tyre volume different (I guess the sidewalls are thinner?), so the tyre pressure should be different? Cheers Mick
0 sirhc
Mick, You can change the tyres over. It's a bit of a job getting the rim out of the runflats, and the insert is also a pain to get out. I use a couple of long bars to pry everything apart. You can use the same tubes and flaps, but for £10 each I suggest you put in new tubes. You can get these from ATS, they're the same as many tractor front tyres. I inflate my tyres to 40psi front and 45 rear. Chris
0 MiketheBike
Thanks Chris, yes for the sake of a tenner it seems pointless not changing the tube. Mick
0 sirhc
Mick, There is an easier way to change the tyres, I borrowed this kit at Kemble and changed 2 tubes there the other year. Chris
0 john fox
Mick I made a thing to do this with - as you are just down the road from me send me a PM if you want to borrow it or for me to give you a hand - I have done all 4 of mine and its a  John
0 MiketheBike
Thanks John...I will do that when Jack's shipment gets rolling :-) Are you going to Brooklands later this month?
0 john fox
Mick Not sure about Brooklands yet - entered my 101 but its failed its MOT on chassis rust and the part hasn't arrived yet. May end up fgoing as a paying punter instead ... its all of 6 months since I was last there but a good museum nonetheless
