Hi from Shropshire - curiosity brings me here

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

curiosity brings me here. I've had a water bowser sitting in one of the fields on my smallholding for some years now. It's been very much part of the scenery, so it was only a few days ago that i took a closer look. The only mark is "TB WATER EQUIPMENT". I have made some initial enquiries and received the following:

Dear Brian,

The water bowser is almost certainly a Thompson Brothers product. From the 1930s onwards they specialised in them. I have had a look to see if I can find a photo of some of their later products, but so far have been unsuccessful. If you have a photograph of the bowser, and want to email it to me, I am more than happy to add it to the website.

I spotted the following on this site, which has similarities to mine :

I will attempt to add pics of mine below:

think that probably failed - perhaps I am not allowed to do pics yet?? Sorry for Newbie fumblings - I would be glad to hear from someone who knows about these bowsers.

Welcome in, yes worth saving. Be Weery carful though! You may well end up getting a Bedford to put it on! :D

Ah! 'you know me too well' already :)

If I decide to put the bowser/tank up for sale do you think it would do better in the classifieds on HMVF (which category?? and tricky to value) or that well-known auction site?

I'd be suprised if someone here dosen't want it! There are several Bedfords and bowsers being worked. Price? What suits both parties is the best I suppose. Put the money towards a Dodge WC51, that will not only bring a smile to your face, but do farm work as well!
